Also Epstein and his friends have names! And they havent been arrested and their victims still seek justice, this abstraction ensures they never will because it disseminate blame over an amorphous demographic
The political weaponization of sexual violence allegations does not make sexual violence unreal. What should concern us is how recognition, credibility, outrage, and skepticism are distributed selectively depending on whose suffering serves existing political narratives.
We saw this after October 7, where some dismissed or minimized reports before investigations could unfold. We are seeing similar dynamics now around reports of abuse and sexual violence against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention. In both cases, survivors become secondary to ideological positioning.
My 2024 article in @JournalGenocide examines how conflict-related sexual violence becomes entangled with denial, nationalism, legitimacy, and the politics of recognition rather than survivor-centered justice.

Reading the piece on the sexual abuse of Palestinian prisoners, then going to another piece on Hamas's sexual abuse of the victims of October the 7th, is quite horrific. There's quite a childish ping-pong attitude of both sides trying to prove that only their side has "legitimate victims" or a "legitimate narrative". Even with this post, I am expecting some outrage or dissatisfaction from the two sides because I am writing about the two stories in the same post.
Though During the past two years we saw enough evidence to prove that the two horrific acts actually exist. On the one hand, the leaked video from the notorious Sde Taiman detention facility along with numerous testimonies from ex-Palestinian prisoners. On the other hand, there was also much evidence, and now more is showing up along with numerous testimonies on Hamas's sexual abuse of the victims of October 7th. Even more, there were recent testimonies of Palestinian women and children on how Hamas sexually abused them (Interestingly, we did not see the same outrage from the Pro-Palestine camp).
I am not expecting either of the two sides to hold their criminals accountable; the tribalism machinery dominating this conflict is too massive to allow such a thing. One doesn't have much to add to this but to encourage people & NGOs to think of ways and programs to help the victims of these acts heal from what they have been through, as it will be stuck with the victims during all their lives.
Dr. Rewaa from Gaza wrote on her FB account a few days ago: "People who support the Palestinian cause have become a danger to us as Palestinians... Is it because you support my cause that you have the right to insult us or impose dictates on us who are affected?! You choose the easiest way to scream and spread hatred as if you were the ones drinking the cup of pain... When we talk about our conditions and what we have achieved, all you care about is being heard or being noticed... You made us feel disgusted that you are being counted against us. We need minds, not people who don't think or show off, but people who really have a sense of us!
Palestinians today, especially the people of Gaza, hate slogans of all kinds because they do not promote life but rather our death. It is enough to underestimate what we are living through and belittle our feelings...
There are those who rejoice when they see women masked with keffiyeh performing sexually suggestive dances on board boats supporting Gaza, and there are those who insult us when we talk about our suffering. We are weak and exhausted, and we do not have your excessive energy for arguments or sexy extravagances that try to attract attention to yourselves and not to our suffering".
as a woman it's so important that you learn how to be a Problem. I know what they taught you but fuck what you heard. you will people-please your way into an early grave

They say โIsraeliโ or label you a โZionistโ regardless of your actual political stances, because what they actually mean, at the core of it, is โIโm not going to read anything by a JEW.โ
@Lorylockk@snaiImaiI@GilroyMusic if they were born they they arenโt from those places and no they arenโt obligated to lie. israel is a place where people are born and raised and from. denying that does zilch nada nothing for meaningful activism.

That an attack is caused by mental illness does not mean that the target is random. This can both be a failure of mental health provisions AND an instance of anti-Semitism, and that's exactly what it is.
