@microsoft - can yall update Word's autofill with the constitutional presumption of innocence? don't love that it adds "guilty" after I type "pleaded." #notguilty#publicdefenders
Excellent work by Mapping Police Violence documenting more than 1 million uses of police force in America showing that police agencies with higher budgets have a higher rate of use of force and that 83% of people subjected to force by police in America are unarmed.
Imagine if we spent that $$$ (& more of @sfpd's budget, tbh) on things that mattered for the most vulnerable instead like housing, healthcare, and infrastructure...smdh #dobetter

Imagine if the City had invested that money in areas of need instead of this....🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

Racially biased pretext stops disproportionately affect Black and Brown communities in SF, causing daily harassment. It's time to end these wasteful practices. Join us in urging @SFPDCommission to take action now! #EndBiasedStopsSF
The @SFPDCommission MUST stop letting the POA “cop-block” and MUST enact the policy limiting racist pretext stops NOW. Our community is united in its desire to put common sense reform measures in place to #EndBiasedStopsSF!
Daunte Wright, Willie McCoy, Cristian Cobian & Philando Castile should all be alive today. Instead they were stopped by police for "driving while Black" & tragically killed by police. We must prevent tragedies like these from happening in SF. @SFPDCommission#StopThePretext
Daunte Wright, Willie McCoy, Cristian Cobian & Philando Castile should all be alive today. Instead they were stopped by police for "driving while Black" and tragically killed by police. We must prevent tragedies like these from happening in #SanFrancisco elsewhere #StopThePretext
This RIPA report confirms what we've urged the @sfpdcommission to do for years: Implement the policy limiting @sfpd pretext stops b/c they are racist, ineffective, and harm our community. #endthepretext
Is SF returning to the war on drugs? Despite reservations, some Black leaders are OK with that. https://t.co/cKbp0WbYMD via @MLNow
SF isn't returning to the #warondrugs. It never left the streets: more cops, arrests, & prison. Meanwhile, POCs bear the brunt... #nomoredrugwar
Is Reviving a Private Police Agency the Solution to SF's Crime Woes?
NO! SF doesn't need more unaccountable cops. Also, research says more cops doesn't always = less crime. https://t.co/Cxwbgdokvm (Reuters)

For those who believe @sfpd can reduce racial disparities on their own without literally being forced to by this @SFPDCommission and community pressure, please read this. #blm#endbiasedstops

Even this DA agrees that traumatizing children wasn't the right move and just illustrates how desperately we need alternatives to @SFPD. Looking at you @SFPDCommission 🧐
Hill bomb: DA poised to dismiss almost all cases against youths https://t.co/bBTS8ANfO7 via @MLNow
The militarized police response to a youth-led skateboarding event was a tremendous overreach that escalated tensions, endangered young people and onlookers, and violated people’s rights. Here’s my full statement 7/10/23.
We won’t be able to fix any of San Francisco’s problems if ppl w platforms like this “citizen journalist” keep lying about the causes. The policies he names as responsible for “the problem w law enforcement in SF,” whatever that means, aren’t even in effect! Just shameless.
Three years after George Floyd’s death, what has — and hasn’t — changed in San Francisco?
In my latest @sfexaminer, I spoke with @bcoxsfpubdef, @MaxMCO, and @ACLU_NorCal’s Yoel Haile for their perspective.

The "understaffing" convo ignores @SFPD cops on desk duty b/c of serious misconduct. 11 NEW cases just reported to @SFPDCommission. Why should SF keep paying for cops who can’t work b/c of excessive force, lying, bias, & sexual assault?
Don’t believe me? Check out another Bay Area city that is about to pay an “excessive amount” for “cultural and systemic problems” related to racist text message scandals. https://t.co/cKQ5hmRZ8o

FTW you've been blaming immigrants and POCs when it was the police all along...
We can't arrest our way out of a public health crisis. The humans suffering don’t need tough love (i.e. jail/prison), they need support (i.e., housing, healthcare, etc). We must also be careful about investing in an institution we know has systemic problems.
