@pikuma don't know how suitable it is but i suppose one could add the instructions into the course itself (that's what we did in my old job teaching python); i read "uncomfortable" as "unwilling to" and a part of me thought you have to at least be willing before the learning could happen

tbf i do struggle to find reasons to feel uncomfortable installing lua locally (unless you only have a smartphone, in which case you're having a bigger problem than this)

UPDATE: Sadly, I can no longer recommend @Replit as a tool for beginners to experiment with coding in my Lua course. For students that feel uncomfortable installing Lua locally and prefer using the browser over the command-line, I am now suggesting using @OneCompilerHQ instead.

I'm a big fan of Uncle Bob and his books. But we also have to take into consideration that he is speaking from the perspective of a person who has been coding for longer than most of us have been alive.

This means he has the experience, intuition, and taste to build the right constraints and guardrails around AI agents to make sure the code they generate is reliable.

For people who are new to the game, learning to read and write code should be a prerequisite to using AI coding tools for anything that is beyond a prototype or a hobby project.
