"No more meat-eating for you," says Bill Gates. Instead, he explains, we can eat “plant-based meat,” maybe even sourced from his vast GM soybean fields. Largest owner of farm land in the US, Bill says we will "get used to the taste difference..."
If you're struggling to get to the end of Monday, please remember, there is always someone who is having a much worse day than you are.

@akosduna@DaleVince Absolutely. It’s important we talk these things through and not just shout at anybody who thinks differently. Especially over socials.
This has been interpreted wrong imo. The advertisement indicates B12 is only present “naturally” in diets containing meat. Vince claims animal products have B12 because they’re fed it, which is disingenuous as it is found naturally in well kept and naturally fed animals and fish
@Be_Primal My main issue is that it’s misleading to suggest that choosing vegan is to choose not to have B12. It’s not right in any sense. The claim that only meat has B12 in it naturally is wrong, animals are fed B12 as a supplement - meat is fortified that way.
@akosduna@DaleVince But I still don’t think it’s misleading due to the wording of natural. Fortifying and supplementing is a man made process therefor “unnatural” if you go tit for tat with this stuff you have to appreciate how much misleading marketing there is out there promoting veganism too
@akosduna@DaleVince I don’t think we can assume that as we know B12 from source absorbs via hydrochloric acid and gastric protease whereby free form combines with intrinsic factor, so already the body is working differently. But Good to have an amicable twitter discussion without descending chaos👍
@akosduna@DaleVince The water in that scenario would be the same but the quality of it could differ. Often with vitamins the surrounding nutrients and alike they are consumed with support the absorption. In the same way we benefit from grass from animal fat rather than eating it directly.
@akosduna@DaleVince The statement refers natural B12. It doesn’t say it’s the only source it says natural source. That statement is true is it not? Whether or not some farming techniques include B12 being given to animals doesn’t mean it doesn’t occur naturally in animals with true outdoor feeding
@DaleVince If it stated you can’t obtain B12 from a vegan diet then I think I would be more inclined to agree. But the word naturally is true, as we have to remember people may not be aware of fortifying foods and the chemistry vitamins require to be absorbed.
@DaleVince I think the point remains that grass fed animals do produce naturally occurring B12. You could argue by not washing vegetables you can garner some naturally occurring B12 via plants but I don’t think it’s as misleading as you think. More about definition.
Little bit of a different one for us tonight...
Huge, huge thanks to @ollie_ollerton for his time this evening.
