Did my first beach clean in 1971 and still caring for our environment. #LitterHeroes Ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy. Owner of multi-award winning eco shop.
@BucksFlyTipping I’m pleased lots of £500 fines being imposed for littering. However, fly tipping such as this needs a minimum £5000 fine due to the cost of removal and disposal.
…eventually, I had to put myself in debt to pay for professional counselling and I chose to gradually get myself off the medication which I stopped completely 14 days ago. I now feel ready to talk publicly for the first time what I’ve kept inside for too long. #mentalhealth
5 years ago this week, in incident in my job as a school caretaker changed my life and seriously affected my mental health. A year later, I chose to leave to survive. Litter picking and starting my business improved my health but I’m cross they didn’t support me enough…
@Craig57240072@bbcsomerset I used to think it was only a minority who littered. What I saw last week was very sad. If your rubbish is not IN the bin, it’s #stilllittering
@jhnstncpst@cleanupbritain@_GeorgeFinch@bbcmtd Why would you think that? It’s more likely to be an entrance like the one to my property where a security camera is needed to alert me to possible rural crime. Sad times.
@cleanupbritain@_GeorgeFinch@bbcmtd So pleased this has been caught on camera spoiling such beautiful countryside. We just need some serious fines in place now to deter people from doing this.
@SebastienneL I remember as a young boy, if we heard the phone ringing, we would answer it and take a message or caller would say they would ring back in 15 minutes for the person they wanted to get there. Once when I answered, it was my sister in London!
@DaveThroup I went to the beach this afternoon but it was too much to bear. The pebbles radiated even more heat and I spent most of the time standing in the sea to keep cool. Taking shoes off wasn’t an option unless you wanted blistered feet.
Sad to hear the news that Judith Chalmers has passed away. I was fortunate to be a neighbour when I lived in Highgate 40 years ago and we always said good morning to each other while she was walking her dog and I was going to work. Fond memories.
DYK - Litter picking has been proven to improve mental health by boosting mood through active, mindful, and social engagement with the local environment. Whether you do a solo litter picked or take part with a group event, you’ll feel good! #mentalhealthawarenessweek
Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough. I was up early to do some artwork, pick up 100 (well, 137 actually) pieces of plastic from the beach , and all before breakfast and a day at work! @bbcsomerset
