We were out today with @GMPFallowfield for speedwatch around Fairholme Road. Residents joined us to discuss concerns, and GMP pulled over a number of motorists. 👮🏼♂️ 🚘
We will do more speedwatch in the coming months, and will keep lobbying the Council for action on road safety.
There are a number of protests in Manchester this weekend including a visit from the far right group Britain First. Please see the message to our communities from @ManCityCouncil below - “Manchester does not tolerate racism, bigotry or division”.
Throughout August, @BeeNetwork are lifting the 9.30am rule on older and disabled people’s bus passes.
They’ll analyse data to see whether it will be possible to make it permanent.

Our latest street surgery – in Withington Ward on Saturday – saw lots of residents raising a wide variety of issues with me and the local Withington Councillors. Thanks to everyone who stopped by— we appreciate the conversations and ideas.
This morning we held a street surgery with @JeffSmithetc in Ladybarn. We had lots of good conversations with residents, and we are following up on the issues raised.
We then did a door-knocking session, where we updated people on the work we’ve been doing in the local area. 🌹
Meanwhile Councillors @becky_cham and Angela Gartside were out in Ladybarn this morning with Ladybarn Litter Pickers.
We are committed to cracking down on litter and fly-tipping in our local area, with £5m extra money invested to tackle problem areas across Manchester. ♻️
At Council this morning we passed two very important motions: first on tackling crime in our communities.👮🏾
We welcome more powers to tackle ASB and knife crime, along with better protections for retail workers, and proposals for a new standalone spiking offence. 1/2
We have been supporting Something More Productive with their planning and licensing issues since last summer and are keen to see them granted new operating hours so they can continue to thrive in Withington.
