Really great study published by @joefigs2 @IPapanicolas and colleagues. Key finding:

"avoidable mortality increased in all US states, primarily due to increases in preventable deaths, while it decreased in comparable high-income countries. Health spending was significantly negatively associated with avoidable mortality for other high-income countries but not across US states."

I would argue that the US, as compared to other countries, spends its health care dollars inefficiently and should be investing more, significantly more, in primary care.
