𝗦𝗡𝗢𝗪 is now mixing with sleet and rain along the North Carolina/Tennessee line. Snow has only been recorded in September one other time, way back in 1967 #NCwx

The @NOAA_HurrHunter just went through #Fiona's NE eyewall and found 95-kt surface winds and 105-kt FL winds, along with a falling extrapolated pressure. On the cusp of being a Category 3 hurricane.
The roads are a mess this morning. We are getting numerous reports of blocked roads due to flooding. Do not drive through any flooded roads.
Turn on WRAL News, we will show you where the trouble spots are this morning as you guys head back to work and school. @WRALWeather
A line of storms will become organized in the foothills mid to late afternoon and push east through the evening. Best estimate of arrival time in Triangle is 6-8pm
Looking like the primary threat for ice accrual will be along and west of the I-85 corridor mostly in NC. NW SC/NE Ga could see some as well. As of now, RDU looks to be mostly if not all rain. I will release a first call map by tomorrow am at the latest.
The 00z CMC/ECMWF/GFS freezing rain forecast from https://t.co/BhiyPXYqOO CAD will be in place with a trough moving across the southern plains into the Southeast. Trough/upper low near Newfoundland will help lock in the damming. Tues night/Wed the primary threat range.
Rain will overspread the area early Thursday. While the precip will initially be rain, then transition to a mix of rain and snow is expected during the afternoon. A transition to all snow from north to south is expected thereafter. visit: https://t.co/gPxJMXAVfI 🌧️🌨️#NCWx
The 18z NAM-3km is in and supports the going forecast. Last 4 runs of the hi-res NAM-3km has been pretty consistent with amounts for most places and the axis of heaviest snow. I still think the amounts are too much. But NE piedmont to N Coastal Plain/SE Va is the bullseye. #ncwx
