@sutenate@drownedhalls@lavenderaura000@BiXolotl Both are true. It's illogical, speciesist & entitled human vanity & ego to think of us as more important than other sentient beings. But it's also not necessary to view sentient beings as equal (tho we should) in order to value others enough to respect & not exploit & kill them.
@sutenate@BiXolotl It's not obviously immoral to value sentient beings equally unless one is committed to the arbitrary notion of speciesism and human supremacy. There's no morally relevant trait between species that can be used to justify harmful discrimination that couldnt be used against humans.
@MeggGawat I wish ppl stopped calling killing of an "inconvenient" animal as euthanasia, sanitizing what is senseless murder & conflating it with what should be an act of mercy to a suffering individual. So many euphemisms. "Culling", "harvesting", "rearing", "raising". Exploiting & killing
@gunnvald1966@PlantBasedNews Gluten free & fortified breads & extruded cereals that retain their fibre, some oatmeals, some canned beans & other canned or frozen foods, tofu & seitan, baby formula, protein isolates, etc are perfectly healthy regardless of processing. Plus animal products are processed too.
@gunnvald1966@PlantBasedNews Not all processed foods are created equal, some are healthy (such as plant based animal product alternatives, which are healthier, better for animals & the environment than their animal-derived counterparts) https://t.co/tFeuj8BWiX
@sf2000b @dpoynter11 @vegansarcasm They're currently unavoidable but uninherent (won't be forever). And way more occur for animal products, which also cause far more suffering and deliberate murder.
Protein comes from PLANTS.
If you still think it comes from animals, ask yourself where those animals get theirs from?
Answer: It's PLANTS.
Get your protein first-hand and go plant-based. Stop killing animals, for second-hand protein, when you absolutely don't need to. Go vegan.
After a lifetime of eating animals @EamonnHolmes is making the connection and itโs amazing to see
Animals are complex thinking feeling individuals who are defenceless and innocent as human children - they deserve your protection, not your violence
