@drterrysimpson Partially true. In fact it can be argued that MET capacity is more predictive of mortality than coronary plaque. In other words, I’d prefer coronary plaque in a high MET capacity (high VO2 max) human to one w a low MET capacity.
@OSHeartDoc@drjohnm@AndrewFoy82 The error isn’t the decision to put in a stent, the error is doing a cath on a patient without an indication for a heart cath.
I discuss high CAC with pts all the time w/o cards ref. Very few of those patients end up in a cath lab. Even w referral, I can’t remember on who did
@drjohnm@AndrewFoy82 “CAC scores, regardless of severity, are rated as inappropriate indications for invasive coronary angiography in asymptomatic patients.”

@Marion436842126@Donna7563291556 Indeed rhabdo is well documented very rare side effect of statins hence reg blood work & informed consent from patient.
Multiple large non-industry studies (ie - Univ of Iowa Indep Study 2024/2025) show no sig long-term kidney fxn decline, potentially even kidney protective
Meh bad take
In Texas, we contest property value increases because they mean higher property tax bills.
Neighborhoods where people care about poorer neighbors have HOAs that keep them out.
As a Texan with a nice house, I’m thrilled property values have stopped rising so quickly and rents are cheaper.
Doctor here… I lose money on vaccines. Some vaccines I can’t buy for what insurance reimburses me to administer. The admin fees don’t really cover the staff time to administer + store + insurance + loss. Never seen a “kickback” 🤷🏼♂️
One reason why some docs I know have this policy (I don’t) is their patients under 2mo old. Infants <2mo old have not had chance to be vaccinated. An unvax toddler w bad cough could be exposing newborn to pertussis…85% of pertussis deaths are in <2mo old group.
@AmericaFir64969 @RonDeSantis Damn I wonder where my check has been going. All these checks people think we doctors get must be going into an account I haven’t been told about. I can’t WAIT to find it!
Doc here part of the evil medical est. Unfortunately, cardiology guidelines suggest LdL >190 usually familial = statin.
I’ll get coronary artery calcium score, repeat LDL w ApoB, lipoprotein A & discuss after.
Saturated fat reduction prob helps.
Don’t hold all of us accountable! Good luck.
Don’t listen to people saying if calcium score “low” don’t worry. If calcium score >0, that’s an advanced disease problem. Goal is to avoid heart attacks, not avoid meds.
