Current practice guidelines (i.e. JNC-8) recommend that Black patients with hypertension w/o co-morbidities initially be treated with a thiazide diuretic or a calcium channel blocker while non-Black patients are initially offered ACE-I.
No healthcare organization in Missouri should follow this unlawful order. His shameful actions, however, will have an effect. His rhetoric shows no regard for children and families affected by his hate and the lives that will be lost as he tries to erase members of our community.
@humzasayshi Agreed. The textbooks also need to follow up with the WHY certain health conditions are more common in minoritized groups. These inequities are usually related to the social/economic/political influencers of health.

When I saw you on rounds that morning you were quiet. Your eyes looked in my direction but were otherwise vacant.
This was a change.
Me: "You okay?"
You: "Yup."
There was coolness in the way you spoke. After that, you turned away from me and faced the wall.
Ooph.

This 2 minute interaction between @RandPaul and Dr. Fauci is very good.
Senator Paul seems to almost understand the complex issues of immunity and cross-reactivity.
And keeps sharing nonsense that is largely incorrect.
Dr. Fauci patiently lays out the facts.
Restaurants are decimated, and I so miss eating in them like we did in the Before Times. But not ready to do so quite yet, and here's why. Latest: https://t.co/HgjKbbia6F @_MiguelHernan
Great thread on why Madrid and NYC, both hit hard in April, now on divergent paths
Basically
1 Indoor dining/ bars: closed in NYC, open in Madrid
2 Testing: great in NYC, bad in Madrid
3 Tracing: good in NYC not Madrid
Almost like there's science that NYC using, Madrid not
1/6 Test positivity in Massachusetts has fallen to ~2%. How? Social distancing, mask wearing mandates & science-based communication have been vital.
But one key factor has received less fanfare: community-based strategies for testing, contact tracing & social support.

"A full-time primary care faculty had a total of 390 #inbasket tasks per week ... reported median ~20hrs/week on these tasks"
"Clearly the current allocated 32 h of clinic time & 8 h of admin time are NOT enough to maintain our current practice."
