@NickNemo17 The answer is a precise combination of incentive misalignment, behavioral failure, and a structural problem in how financial professionals define their objective function. Little incentive to stop dancing, better to fail conventionally.
@jam_croissant@hexlint One can drown in a river that is on average a foot deep (borrowed) @nntaleb The comment did not blow my mind and this anecdote is way below your intelligence level. You did provide me material to teach the kids on how not to think though.
@KrisAbdelmessih@FREAK0NAUT Inspired by the story of a grandfather buying only $AAPL then gifting his grandson thousands of shares, I have my sons' entire funds invested in a single biotech company. They'll have time to recover. Lol
@KrisAbdelmessih Gotta love some of the commentary from video 3:
"T-bills suck"
"We should have went all in"
"I mean we got through it"
Great educational content
@MebFaber Although I don't disagree with the title and charts, I feel market timing is minimized. If markets go up and to the right, then why are thousands of ETFs offered? Why are any strategies outside of passive index investing offered? Market timing is a factor
@choffstein Wife: We are hosting the Jones' tomorrow
Husband thought bubble: I don't have a grill, smoker, or a lot of time...oh yeah, I'll smoke a brisket.
Lol, love it! Happy 4th
I smoked and grilled just about everything except brisket
@MebFaber Lower. The second leg down phenomenon seen in finance, biology, sports, etc. Simple charts and pattern recognition are powerful tools. @HariPKrishnan2
@jasoncbuck@choffstein Excellect call out for Chris. Listening to Cole's interviews, I always imagine Rodman as the upside convexity, bear-market liquidity, and non-correlated part of the portfolio determined by market state rather than asset category in his 100-Year Portfolio
@choffstein@jasoncbuck Parrondo's Paradox reconciliation immediately came to mind. Rebalancing time periods (my preference) disrupt the Parrondo trap state and possibly price agnostic passive flows depending on scale. Great food for thought π§
