After massive corporate fearmongering about fast food workers in California getting a $20/hr minimum wage, new data shows what actually happened:
-Wages went up 18%
-Prices only went up 3.7%
-Workers didn't actually lose their jobs
An NLRB judge just ruled that Amazon drivers are employees, despite the corporate giant hiding behind the "contractor" label for years.
Now 280,000 Amazon drivers could unionize.
This win never comes without @amazonteamsters fighting tirelessly on the front lines.
It’s official! Despite years of lies and deceit from Amazon, the NLRB has found that the company’s delivery drivers who unionized with the Teamsters in Palmdale, Calif., are Amazon employees, not independent contractors or gig workers without any rights.
Amazon has a legal duty to recognize and bargain with the Teamsters in Palmdale who organized their union.
This ruling will undoubtedly extend to all Amazon drivers who are fighting hard to become Teamsters nationwide.
It’s been nearly three years since Kabul fell to the Taliban and American forces withdrew. Congress has still not passed a permanent pathway to citizenship for our Afghan allies.
BREAKING: The Biden administration's ban on noncompete clauses has been upheld in court.
A Pennsylvania judge denied an injunction seeking to block the rule.
As of now, virtually all noncompete agreements with bosses will be banned and voided beginning September 4.
Wage theft – through unpaid overtime, misclassification, or illegal deductions – costs workers billions annually.
We need stricter penalties for offending employers and more resources for enforcement agencies.
Every worker deserves to be paid fairly for their labor.
NOW: Thousands of Jewish activists overflow Grand Central Station in NYC to oppose Israel’s war on Gaza and demand an immediate ceasefire. Reports say police are arresting protesters.

The federal minimum wage in the US is $7.25 an hour. This is already a poverty wage.
But did you know companies can and do pay disabled workers HALF that poverty wage? And it’s totally legal.
Thread.
Our son accepted his 1st job in Boston assuming he could take the express & spend 2 hours on a train. He started yesterday, when they were discontinued. He spent 3 hours on the train. Today his train was cancelled and he drove in, taking 2+ hours one way. DO BETTER for #Worcester
No one should be criticized, penalized, or policed for how they show up in the world, in any setting.
Thank you @LCRBOSTON for enforcing the Massachusetts #CROWNAct and standing up for Black athletes.
Congress and @NFHS_Org must follow suit.

As @IanDWagreich and I bike 500 miles across the amazing state of Iowa this week for the 50th RAGBRAI , we see evidence everywhere of how a state like this is hurt by our dysfunctional immigration system. 1
