@samburrowsnz I actually donโt stand for the BLM. As a practicing Christian many things they stand for go against what โweโ believe. I do stand for those whose voices are purposely being silenced. Probably an unpopular opinion amongst my own community. But what can you do really?
Now is the time to listen to our black fellow citizens. If we don't assume our own *non-understanding* (see Exclusion & Embrace) of their experience living in the US today, we risk knowing (and being in solidarity) not them but with our potentially distorted image of them.
She is Painting ... with the sun! The Sun & she learned how to do it when she was growing up & didnโt have paint but had a magnifying glass and her father had scrap wood when he was working in his shop as a carpenter. Her name is: MagnifyTheSun on IG
@samburrowsnz@NellieBowles Screens haven't won in my house. Our neighbours know us as, the house with the kids that are always playing outside. People need to make an effort, especially in teaching their kids life skills, no screen will ever teach them that. #oldfashionedparentwithalandline#notasanctimum
@samara_madsen@mrkempnz A6: That makes sense but as a beginning teacher what would that look like? Coming from a background where there was no feedback given how would I now know where to start? #WhatIsSchool
@mrkempnz A6: I think by building relationships with each student, it allows for open communication. Also by creating a whaiwฤhitanga style of learning and teaching in the class, i.e class game, buddy systems etc. #WhatIsSchool
@mrkempnz A5: Like in answer 4 I would use Ako as an awesome way to give learners feedback. With giving children feedback there needs to be a level of trust in order to constructively take on the feedback. #WhatIsSchool
@mrkempnz A4: As a student teacher I am not aware of any, but would love to hear some tips. Ako is an awesome way that I think would build trust in the classroom that would allow feedback to be more receipt-able. #WhatIsSchool
@mrkempnz A2: Sadly in the country I grew up in when it came to teachers they never gave any positive it was always negative. It impacted my confidence in the classroom and that carried on to my adult life.Because of this I want to be a better teacher for the next generation #WhatIsSchool
@mrkempnz A1: It can useful in holding learners accountable. Students becoming aware that they are letting the other student down i.e some not cleaning their desks #whaisschool
