We filed a brief alongside @FreedomFundCO in support of a defendant facing a jail sentence 36 times longer and fines nine times higher than allowed by state law.
@ColoradoDPC@ASAMorg We live in complacency. We need #ACTUP energy and #opcs now. This is a public health crisis. 8% and 11% are nothing to celebrate. My friend just died last month.
Drug decrim in Oregon was NOT associated with increased overdose deaths. (In case anyone needs more data to add to the mountains of data that already exists). If only US drug policies were data and science driven.... https://t.co/EjPSR8zkC5.

"Going to jail shouldn’t mean you lose your say in our democracy—that’s the thinking behind a new state law requiring jails to offer an in-person opportunity to vote, making Colorado the only state in the nation to require jails to offer in-person voting."

Back in 1997 the City of Denver capped the number of syringe access programs to 3 total. They had no way to know then how the population would grow, nor could they predict the devastating overdose crisis we're in right now.
It's time for an update.

@DrugPolicyOrg In 2.5 hours, in Denver's Civic Center Park (with no advertising), served 15 participants, handed out 69 kits of naloxone, 215 fentanyl testing strips, 2 people were connected to medication assisted treatment & 2 people were connected to peer support services.

Harm reduction activists in Denver stood up a pop-up Overdose Prevention Center today at Civic Center Park, joining similar actions across the country as part of #OPCSolidarity Week.

Today was everything because of Denver's strong harm reduction advocate community. We prioritize health & safety over all else because that is how it should be. We refuse to stand by and watch our people die. We demand our state leaders to authorize & fund #opcs now!
It's not complicated & it should not be controversial - we are talking about giving oxygen in the event of a medical emergency! Stop prioritizing awareness over saving lives. At this point, just get out of our way because we are going to save our people. Period. #opcsolidarity
In honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, a global event to raise awareness of overdoses & reduce stigma of drug-related deaths, the #Denver City and County Building is lit purple. For more information and resources, visit https://t.co/WgfYMTdgmS #IOAD#IOAD2024
