Back then, people were saying it was a different word. “How can a table be gay, that’s so gay.” Spaz is the same. It’s offensive, even if you didn’t realize the origin until now.

@Garthy1983 @SYSKPodcast I thought the same thing and could even pinpoint the year to 2008 because I did a presentation in bananas for school inspired by hearing about it in a podcast. Google told me scientific American’s Science Talk did a podcast on it in 2008, when a banana history book came out.
