@clhubes I brought my baby to work in state gov’t after taking 8 weeks of unpaid leave. At the time the state offered no parental leave. (It’s now 6 weeks.) Adequate paid leave would 100% be preferable, but I appreciated the flexibility and having coworkers around who love holding babies!
@alamo After calls, emails and a lost item report, I'm now publicly pleading: could someone at the Ft Lauderdale airport please check a car returned yesterday for my wedding and engagement rings? I know they’re just things but it would mean a lot if someone could take a look 🙏
@AveryGWilks I went to Rockaways the night I met my husband, and a few years later, we met our realtor there to sign a contract on our first house. It’s just that kinda place! 💔
@JasonRaven_@WSPA7 What an important contribution you’ve made to our state, Jason! Thank you for your excellent work and best of luck on your next chapter.
Enough of the bureaucratic mazes for children and families: South Carolina has created a single online portal for more than 40 early childhood services. If ever there was a system that other states should shamelessly copy, this is it. @SCFirstSteps https://t.co/drWKXd9tDN
It’s a very cool thing to be a part of creating an event that, as a parent of a rising kindergartner, I would love to attend myself. If you have a preschooler in your life, please join us for this wonderful program! 💛
Happy Pre-K Enrollment Day! ☀️ Today is the perfect day to take a big step in preparing your child for kindergarten by exploring our state's great publicly funded preschool options. Simply visit https://t.co/S9fK7XVIXg to check your child's eligibility and find programs near you.
@sopolicyscholar @pamela_herd @AnnieLowrey @donmoyn @Just_Schweitzer@amprog Digging in! Just read your study with Julia Henly on how parents perceive their encounters with child care subsidy programs. As someone working in the field, I found it super helpful. Thanks to @pamela_herd for the recommendation!
I’ve been reflecting on the administrative burdens that create barriers for families trying to access programs for young children. I’ve read @annielowrey, @donmoyn, @pamela_herd, and @just_schweitzer for @amprog. Any other recommendations on this important topic? #timetax

@_SugarDevil@BrotiGupta Yes! Years after reading this I think about and talk about it all the time. It was exactly what I thought of when I saw the original post.
Educators, 80% of whom are women, have indicated in surveys that parental leave policies would be among the most effective ways of keeping them in the classroom. @WRENetwork
