The final topic is leadership in a clinical team, covering the additional responsibilities of an F2. It emphasises that leadership comes from within the team, and focuses on leading a team caring for a single patient, or on a team working in a single unit/ward. #BDBP
The fifth topic is doctors' well-being. This includes resilience. Practical resilience skills are described and rehearsed, and opportunity given for F1 doctors to plan how to improve their own well-being. #BDBP
Handover and "formal" communication is the third topic. The importance of good note-keeping, discharge summaries and written referrals is highlighted. Time is spent discussing how to improve handover, with reference to the I-PASS approach. #BDBP
10% patients admitted acutely to NHS hospitals will have a patient safety incident. The Patient safety and quality improvement topic highlight some of the common sources of risk, and outlines approaches to both risk management and to quality improvement. #BDBP
