Trying to fill in the student finance for my son in the UK has been nothing short of a battle. How can it be this difficult? Hours waiting on the phone, today customer service actually hung up on my husband and he can’t access his account as he doesn’t know… @SF_England

@SF_England Did all of this and that’s when the man put the phone down on him. He can’t reset it as it’s a 30 year old account and has no idea what the password

his password from 30 years ago and you can’t open a new account - unbelievable. Already stressful times not knowing if your son will be able to finance his course and now this. Surely, with today’s technology this should be easier. Even University is made harder in the UK

@MrZachG Knowledge without thinking is just storage. You can Google a fact in 5 minutes, but real value comes from how you process, question and apply it. Thinking is the bridge between knowing and doing.

@MrZachG You can have an abundance of knowledge about kindness, but putting it into action takes a whole different skill set. Knowledge is easy to access—you can Google in 5 minutes what might take 8 weeks in school. The real question is: can you live it, not just know it?

@RogersHistory Sounds like more like a prison to me
I certainly wouldn’t be doing any learning in those conditions when learning is based on feeling comfortable, built on relationships and tied in with emotions, I don’t see any of those in there.

@Suchmo83 Automaticity of handwriting is important but not necessarily joined and the neatness of it is not important - although it obviously has to be readable. But the joined, cursive forced in primary is not a necessity

All those little things you do in the classroom to promote well-being, positivity, dialogue around self and feelings, emotional literacy are the key to the learning that happens and are not a distraction from learning
