Played the 2% up in northern KS today instead of the chaser convergence mess down in OK. Wasn't expecting much but these storms exceeded expectations, even briefly becoming surface based before being blown outflow dominant shortly after. It was still a really fun chase!
Saw my first tornadoes of the year today near Truman, Minnesota! These pictures turned out way better than I thought they would! Ready to get some sleep before tomorrow's threat!
The Morrill Fire in Nebraska is now 572,000 and 0% contained.
The Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team 1 (CIMT1) assumed management of the Morrill and Cottonwood Fires yesterday evening.
Update from Northern Rockies CIMT1:
“The team’s operations group spent yesterday alongside local crews on both fires to begin becoming familiar with the area. Scouting and planning will continue today as additional resources arrive and are incorporated into the firefighting effort. High winds are expected to keep aircraft grounded.
The Morrill fire made a push south in the Clear Creek area west of Lake McConaughy but did not cross the North Platte River. Today team personnel will support local resources engaging the fire. Firefighters will continue to scout the area and track resources. The structure protection group will conduct assessments.”

Nebraska wildfires ripped across the landscape last night, with the pilot who sent these images in saying they mapped this fire at 72 miles long. The Road 203 Fire south of Halsey was mapped at 36,000 acres, but could be larger this morning.
Multiple wildfires were active through the night and evacuation orders went out for many rural communities. Insane views of these fires. Thanks to the subscriber and pilot who shared these incredible images of these Nebraska fires.
We were in central Illinois Tuesday March 10 for the moderate risk that produced monster hail and a few tornadoes. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families that were affected by these devastating storms.
Today isn't about seeing incredible tornadoes it is about keeping the public safe and aware of impending hazards. PLEASE remember to tag the local WFO on any reports (@NWSChicago@NWSQuadCities@NWSLincolnIL) CLEAR, WELL DETAILED reports with photos and location will save lives.
It was a windy but successful annual team meeting for TMV! We had a lot of fun sharing stories, chatting with new friends, and talking about the season ahead!
We are less than 2 weeks away from the start of our Storm Season. The team is almost ready to get back out there so stay tuned. You don’t want to miss it 😉 Thanks to our member Luke Cernech for the making of this video. #tornado#StormSeasonReady
