So she's not even trying to be subtle about the whole evil thing now then?
(Unless she's suggesting giving them houses so they don't have to sleep in tents, but according to this article that is very much not the plan)
@amy_wright@BLKnitting Worth is a much wider thing, but *self*-worth isn't dependent on external validation. If I'd realised that 25 years ago my life would have been much less exhausting 😂
@BLKnitting@amy_wright ⬆️ This.
We seek *validation* from external sources, like work or male attention. While there's nothing wrong with that necessarily, it is not the same as self-esteem. I can see how the lines get blurred, but the validation of others isn't required when it comes to self-worth 😊
Many moons ago when I used to regularly post things on here Steve was my go-to name for my boss / that jerk at work. Mainly because I'd no colleagues called Steve, & had never had a boss called Steve.
Well, I have a boss called Steve now. He is in fact not a jerk. So that's nice.
@spfarrelltweets@House_Feminist If it helps, I accidentally worked in Finance for 15 years (a decade of that at a global banking giant) & I came out of it with my soul mostly uncrushed. There were moments... But mostly if you have a few decent colleagues you're good. Also noise-cancelling headphones.
Yes, I have been awake since 5am. Just not a "productive member of society" level of awake. For that you need to wait until about 11:30am when I will wash up 5 mugs & send an email. Then I'll get hungry & we're back to square one.
Every day at the nursery my 3yo nephew goes to they all say together "I love everyone!"
My nephew says this at home too, except he always follows it with "shake your whistles!"
No one - neither his parents nor the nursery staff - knows why.
I love it.
SHAKE YOUR WHISTLES FRIENDS!
