Como's Stadio Sinigaglia fails UEFA's Category 4 standards, not because it's too small (13,000 seats easily clears the 8,000 minimum), but because it lacks permanent structures, proper media facilities, VIP areas & compliant pitch dimensions.

Also worth correcting: it's not really "Sassuolo's stadium." It's the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia, Sassuolo just plays there. And it's 150 miles from Como. That's too far to calla home game.

This also isn't a permanent ban. If Como complete their redevelopment by September 2026, they play at home. Mapei is only the fallback if the work isn't done in time, and right now that deadline looks very tight due to disputes between the club, city officials and local residents.

Not even unprecedented either. Atalanta did the exact same thing when they first entered the UCL, temporarily used the Mapei Stadium while their ground was upgraded.
