There’s a frequent perception among recent entrants to drug discovery world that if we could just find drug candidates faster, this will be a useful accelerant to the overall process. The issue is: this thinking is mostly (but not entirely) incorrect. 🧵 1/
This story is genuinely concerning. @AdrianoAguzzi, what is your opinion about this? Should I and those working with prion-like seeds such as recombinant αSyn, amyloid, and tau (in BSL-2 facilities) also be worried about similar events?

Hey #NeuroTwitter ! I'm in the last few months of my medical graduation and am looking for #PhDposition in #neuroscience Interests - executive functions, human behavior, and neuromodulation. Profile - https://t.co/cmtC6W1QHT. Would appreciate leads
If you are studying a problem with really shitty data, you have to convince me that a) this is the best data we can get and b) this problem is so important that we should study it even if we only have shitty data.
You can open a neuroscience textbook and read about the basic input-output function of neurons, right? We—astrocyte biologists—were jealous. PhD student Michelle Cahill wanted to map input-response dynamics in astrocytes. Surprising results in here:

"And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats, and large chulapas..."
@bioinformer@DrAnneCarpenter While I can't comment about falsified data, I have noticed a number of microarray studies which have arbitrarily used GAPDH to normalise the data without any justification reported in the papers.
Recently, I came across the web-based, interactive, & #opensource Optical Simulation tool #OPTICO 🔬 that allows students to virtually play around with mirrors, lenses, etc. 🚀 - Teachers & workshop leaders should try it out #openscience#openeducation 👉 https://t.co/1dzUNmYTdv
>200 scientists analyzed the same data, the results varied widely
it shows “we can’t be relying on any individual result or any individual study to tell us the whole story” @HannahSFraser says

@jbakcoleman I wish it weren't so, but this is like the bulk of molecular biology, where more data is generated everyday but an overarching theory/narrative is missing and labs sit on a bunch of observations that go nowhere
Great to see the advertisement for the new cycle. Research associates are valuable members of the scientific community. However, candidates who joined after selection from the previous year's cycle are yet to start receiving their fellowship. @DBTIndia 🙏 Kindly help.
You know you care about scientific rigor if you can list 3 questionable things you did in the past (because you didn't know) that you would do better today.
