I've been talking to college grads for months and still today 90% of them are living in 2019.

Here's what I keep seeing over and over again.

Fresh graduates downloading random DSA courses from Telegram. Thinking that grinding Leetcode for 6 months will get them into Google.

They have no idea that AI exists beyond Chatgpt and forget about workflows, agents, or automation.

Meanwhile, the industry is moving on without them.

For them "Vibe coding" is still about finding the right coding partner instead of building tools that actually solve problems for real users.

They're all chasing the same delusion. Some random guy on the internet told them they can get remote jobs in San Francisco making $200k straight out of college.

Everyone is selling them a dream but not the process of building that dream.

I've met freshers who think FAANG companies are just waiting to hire them because they built a todo app following a YouTube tutorial.

They have no idea what it actually takes.

Building a Netflix clone from a tutorial isn't the same as understanding user problems. Copying code isn't the same as solving real business challenges.

The gap between what they're learning and what companies actually need is getting bigger every day.

And the saddest part is that most of them don't even know they're behind until they appear in interviews or face continuous rejections.

here's what I've been advising them .

1/ Stop chasing the FAANG dream based on what worked 5 years ago. Start learning the tools that actually matter today.

2/ Learn AI workflows, not just Chatgpt prompts. Understand automation, agents, and how to build systems that actually scale.

3/ Build something real that solves actual user problems. Not another todo app. Not another Netflix clone.

4/ Ship products to real users. Get feedback. Iterate. Learn what people actually want.
