@theonlyfunnydan I worked for Disney in the 2000's on the World of Cars Online. We often went down rabbit-holes like this one. Some of us working on the game accepted that it had to be a post-apocalyptic world were vehicles had also gained human sentience but were unable to create new culture.
@PBSKIDS@WildKratts_TV When @schlafman & I were running CloudKid, we had the opportunity on multiple occasions to meet Chris & Martin at the PBS KIDS Producers Summit. They were, hands-down, some of the funniest, friendly, kindest and most creative people we met.
@devongovett 100% this. In our last major release, we took the mono package approach with PixiJS and everyone is happier. Sub-module exports are now support in most bundling tools, so this is a no-brainer.
@schlafman@okpasquale@rive_app for ui motion, after effects is like trying to ride a jet ski in a bathtub. aside from Rive, there are some promising new tools in this space, e.g., https://t.co/9iJSQhofKz and https://t.co/10rX59RoTj
On @PixiJS's Discord this morning, a dev was having an issue with how to use HTMLText with Renderer's Extract functions (image, base64, etc). There are some gotchas because HTMLText is rendered async. Here's an example how to do it:

@sarah_edo Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder is one of my favorites or, if you like historical non-fiction, anything by Nathaniel Philbrick (Mayflower, In the Heart of the Sea)
Fun npm bug I found today:

Two identical packages, both made of 60K files and the same download size, but one is a flat list the other is nested in various folders. Install time is 5s (flat) vs 85s (nested). Yarn showed a smaller delta.
Any thoughts why?
@MartinBekerman Focus
- art direction
- consensus-building
- cross-functional collaboration
- non-virtual goods
- strong sense of general taste
- expand your vocab of cinema, lighting, art history, fashion, interior design, etc
Forget
- pixel pushing, digital craft
- recognizable visual style
By contrast, Figmaโs dev experience is a delight. Complete docs, good examples, paved path tools, sane extension format, modern runtime. I wish publishing was more automated, but itโs solid. Now that they own it, Adobe should throw everything away from CC and copy Figma. Please!
Adobeโs dev experience is garbage. Decades of poor docs, outdated examples, changing terminology every few years (CEP, CXCS), searching random forums, half-baked publish tools (exchange, developer console), bad CLI and debugging experience, horrible ES3 runtime.
Aside: AE needs an overhaul. Text layout and vector rendering are so dated when compared to more contemporary software. Preview render is sluggish and ugly. Interoperability stinks for anything other than PS. There has to be a startup disrupting this software somewhere??
