It bothers me that schools—as well as parents—rarely tell kids about careers with uncapped upside, like tech or real estate. And instead, kids end up entering college thinking the best outcome is that they become a lawyer, a consultant or—even worse—thinking it would be cool to get a job at a government agency.
Every valedictorian from my hometown is now working a deadend job because of that poor guidance.
It’s not like parents and teachers aren’t aware of careers with uncapped upside: Microsoft and Apple were founded in the 1970s. What is the actual explanation for this?
Seven years in to running a hardtech startup and I think the biggest surprise for me is…how many companies there are out there that could be debunked in an afternoon using the most basic physics but somehow. Still. Keep. Raising. Money.
Louisville's Ohio River Bridges Project rendering. $2.5 Billion burying downtown in concrete and then people wonder why nobody lives downtown. And traffic actually declined. We should have removed I-64. #8664

Few things hold folks back more than the belief they are “too advanced” to do the humbling, low status work required to create something out of nothing.
From what I have seen, rather than believing you are so experienced you can skip the grind, it’s better to fully embrace it.
After self-hosting my email for twenty-three years I have thrown in the towel 😩
Email is now an oligopoly, a service gatekept by a few big companies which does not follow the principles of net neutrality.
Even smart people in the industry fall for this rhetoric. Wood and charcoal are carbon neutral fuel sources. The carbon released in the burning of biomass was sequesters from the air during the lifecycle of the plant. Propane is not carbon neutral.
Forget about gun control. @chrisrock had it right. We should tax the hell out of bullets. If every AR-15 bullet cost $1000, there would be no mass shootings. #GunControlNow https://t.co/vjz2XtsiIz
Reason number 4723 that we need gun control: even the police are scared of someone with an AR-15. But let’s not get distracted by the police performance in one instance. Stay focused on the need for gun control.
