@rodger DeBoer is also the only non Saban assistant among the HCs left in the playoffs and the other 4 remaining HCs in the playoffs not in this game were on Saban’s 2015 Alabama coaching staff while Derrick Henry was running over everyone for the Heisman and national title.
@acosta32_jp We had some injuries from earlier in the year that made it thin on the edge of the DL, and then LT Overton/Kelby Collins are out this week with “illness.” So it’s an unusually thin DL now.
@ChrisVannini Bama has 4 ranked wins compared to Notre Dame’s 1 (including winning at Georgia). Feels like the disparity in ranked wins should matter more than the FSU loss which you are putting an unusual amount of emphasis on compared to the quality of wins.
@AllbrightNFL I do think it's useful for letting people who don't follow the sport closely - or people who don't remember what happened last year well - to know that teams like South Carolina (5-7 in 2023), Illinois (5-7 in 2023), or Arizona State (3-9 in 2023) are believed to be legit good.
@Ihartitz Isn’t Dobbins just the starter? I assume it’s going to be a split regardless, but it’s hard for Harvey to be the main guy in a Payton offense if he isn’t trusted to pass protect yet.
@bykevinclark@BudElliott3 Marion outside fits w/ Beck's strengths in quick game & complements MT's agility/Lofton matchup threat from slot, just awkward fit when Daniels ideally has space creator (Trader) or vertical threat (JM) across him. Not sure JM's ready either & he's likely best/only vert threat
@JBudDavis Feels like win totals don’t work in CFB for this the same way it does in NFL given CFB’s varying schedules w/ the obvious example being Texas is +2.5 at Ohio State week 1 (so rated as equal) & you have Texas 5.6 points worse. So SEC is being underrated here due to conf strength.
@MathBomb I usually play games on console, but the ease at screenshotting on my computer and looking at them on a second monitor has made things way easier for me on Blue Prince
@MattHarmon_BYB He’s up there with most athletic players I’ve ever seen on Bama and while he was our best defender last year, he’s still only scratching surface of his ceiling given position changes throughout his life. No one with his size/length should have that kind of lateral agility as well
@KFordRatings The two and the all-conference/all-American teams need to be fixed. I’ve repeatedly had the defensive player of the year heisman finalist not even make either all-conference team, let alone all-American.
@andystaples I assumed he was playing in large part to break the passing TD record and it was always the plan he would sit out the second half if he broke it in the first half. Especially since QB is the one position it’s hard to leave suddenly so playing the whole half makes sense.
@ESPN_BillC Also Rimington (Dickerson), Broyles (Sark) & Mannelly (Fletcher). Awards don't even include Surtain II (arguably best CB in NFL), Will Anderson, Barmore (highest paid non-QB Pats history), Waddle, Neal, BRob, Branch, Will Reichard (98/98 on kicks 2020 & CFB career pts leader) etc
@BigOrangeHeupel@CharlesPower@twitter It’s just the “true freshman all-American team” which is probably a better way of doing it since it always felt weird to compare second years to first years
@bykevinclark@mikegolicjr This is a bit disingenuous because Lagway only played 15 snaps & didn’t enter until Florida was down 38-10 in the 4th quarter. He also led a TD drive the drive before the int, but it’s silly to try to extrapolate meaning out of garbage time week 1 compared to Lagway end of season
@mikerodak I’d personally be shocked if Miami - with 0 ranked wins - was ahead of Bama, especially since we will likely have 4 ranked wins on Tuesday’s rankings. They previously even had 2-loss Bama over 1-loss Miami.
@AllbrightNFL This isn’t remotely a thing on any of the 49ers space I frequent. Hell, I find the 49ers subreddit to be insufferable when things aren’t going perfectly and still no one is talking themselves out of Shanahan.
@SethWEmerson Bryce Young was also excellent against UGA in 2021. Even the second game when he ran out of WRs he kept making absurd plays (just kept being dropped by WRs).
