Thank you @thekiranbedi
It is indeed the need of the hour to see that real spirituality works in both directions:
It looks outward with honesty, and that is rationality.
And it also looks inward with honesty, and that is self-knowledge.
Rationality and self-knowledge must go together, so say the Upanishads:
अन्धं तमः प्रविशन्ति येऽविद्यामुपासते ।
ततो भूय इव ते तमो य उ विद्यायां रताः ॥
They enter into blinding darkness who worship only avidyā (outer rational knowledge);
into still greater darkness those who delight in only vidyā (inner self-knowledge).
विद्याञ्चाविद्याञ्च यस्तद्वेदोभयं सह ।
अविद्यया मृत्युं तीर्त्वा विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते ॥
He who knows vidyā and avidyā together crosses death through avidyā and attains immortality through vidyā.
~ Ishavasya Upanishad, Verses 9&11
The ego is not a doer but a distorter:
it does not perform any action,
but merely stakes its claim
over every action.

Meet Ashish Tani Purty.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, you're not alone.
This 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 has just led India to gold at the U-18 Hockey Asia Cup 2026, defeating hosts 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻 on their home turf.
He was named 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 and finished as the tournament's 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿 with 13 goals.
Think about that for a moment.
An Indian athlete dominates an international tournament.
Wins gold for the country.
Finishes as the top scorer.
And yet, most Indians are 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆.
What's even more striking?
The final took place just 𝟲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗣𝗟 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹, an event that dominated every screen, every headline, and every conversation across the country.
This is a reminder of the power our attention has in shaping sporting culture.
The sports we watch 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀.
The athletes we celebrate 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.
The games we follow 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.
If India is to become a genuine sporting nation, the responsibility can't rest solely with athletes, federations, or governments.
It rests with us too.
---------------------------
This is precisely why 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 identified 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 as one of the key reasons India struggles to become a true sporting nation.
Culture is ultimately a reflection of the individual.
An individual who has not understood himself remains driven by conditioning, conformity, and the need for social approval. And when millions live this way, it shapes the culture of an entire nation.
That is why Acharya Prashant repeatedly emphasizes the 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.
Only a society of freer and more conscious individuals can truly recognize, support, and celebrate excellence wherever it appears.
