Our sister, there is a concept of Addarurat Tubihul Mahzurat (Necessity makes the prohibited permissible) is rooted in the Quran. Specifically, Verses 5:3 and 16:115 state that Allah allows exceptions to prohibited things in cases of necessity or special public interest.
The verdict is a reconciliation of the hadith and the lessons of the verses not over ruling.
