If anyone still at Twitter is going to this stupid “code review” by El Musko I will pay you cash money to walk in there with a document in binary and present in earnest about the hardcoreness of your code.
Step 1 of online brand-management is to, like, not personally reply to everyone who hates you to let them know that they’ve successfully hurt your feelings.
Twitter employees take pride in being able to speak up to power, the same principle this platform was built on. 2 yrs ago, I openly criticized execs for their lack of diversity. Instead of firing me, they reached out directly and ran focus groups with women and folks of color.
It’s hard for people on the outside to appreciate how nonsensical this selective “policy” enforcement is. The team responsible for the serving of 10MM+ tweets / second for internal and user-facing use cases is down to like 2 people. Good luck shipping basically… anything?
And, for the any employees still at Twitter, don’t underestimate the power of a pocket veto.
Sometimes it doesn’t work out, or you have to escalate and risk it back firing, but a good pocket veto is a tool to learn to wield well.
Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment. I realize many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that.

i have little else to say that hasn't already been said. 5+ years at twitter trying to affect change in a positive way, working with some wonderful people along the way
so much life has happened during this time. we've all met lifelong friends (and sometimes more 😉) at the tweet factory and i hope for the good of the world that it either somehow manages to be better or just shuts down.
Quitting Twitter Inc earlier this year is like graduating high school and feeling a bit sad but like, nostalgic, and then a few months later your high school explodes.
do you consider Modest Mouse and At The Drive In "emo" or something else? seems like there is debate. (I don't, always sorta thought they were post-hardcoreish)
