@briannekimmel Maybe a good eval for personal agents is when they begin recommending well regarded archival shops.
Like if they recommended https://t.co/nN1iPTXBm6 for Milan or James Veloria in NYC. It’d be easy, so much media coverage for vintage designer that stands out rn.
Most of the founders I know are loving Dads who spend lots of time with their kids. Totally down to earth. Got off lesswrong years ago. Who are these other psychos?
@WillManidis You see a lot of arts support from OpenAI and Anthropic in SF. But people boo and hiss when the sponsors are thanked. Regardless, there’s even lower hanging fruit! Libraries, museums, music festivals, chili cookoffs. Stuff normies like.
@barakgila lol. Real ones remember the ritual of angry San Franciscans leaving the giant home delivered AT&T phone books at this door in 2010-2012.
I used Astra to give directions (with videos) to make knight helmets out of cardboard box I had lying around. Just bring Astra into real life. It’s the best model for wholesome nights in with the kids. What else could you want.
Reading back thru history of thought on aesthetics, tech, culture, form reveals many relevant points for us now, eg to the oft-asked “Why can’t we build beautiful cities anymore?” Eliot’s response would be,this is too downstream a question — as if beauty is just an output one wills — instead we need ask: What kind of civilization produces beautiful cities as a natural expression of its way of life, and what kind of civilization is structurally incapable of doing so? Rather than, “How do we make beautiful buildings?” Q should be also: What sort of culture makes beauty possible, intelligible, and reproducible across generations? Are there societies whose internal organization systematically produces ugliness, fragmentation, or thin culture regardless of individual aesthetic intentions?
