We uncover a central role for intestinal stem cells in defending the tissue against Salmonella infection.
A huge thanks to all collaborators and team members who made this work possible!
๐งฌ What if the immune system could remember cancer the way it remembers a vaccine?
In @CellPressNewsโ Immunity, researchers from @ZivShulmanโs lab at @WeizmannScience discovered memory B cells that can recognize ovarian tumours and produce targeted antibodies.

Now out in @NatureBiotech ! Do lncRNAs commonly bind 1000s of genomic sites? Maybe they do, but the dozens of studies that report genomic binding maps of lncRNAs are deeply flawed, with probes binding suprious DNA sites rather than RNA-bound ones. https://t.co/01NroM67dK
Feeling truly grateful for all the warm comments, support, and retweets from colleagues, friends, and the broader community. It really means a lot to us and to everyone involved in the study. ๐๐ฆ ๐ฌ.
Stem cells rock!

What happens when Salmonella reaches the intestinal crypt, not just the surface epithelium, but the specialized cells that maintain and defend the tissue?
Our paper follows bacterial invasion at single-cell resolution

We show that stem cells are directly invaded by the pathogen and respond by activating inflammasome signaling, triggering cellular remodeling toward cells with antimicrobial properties. This early epithelial defense program helps protect the tissue at early infection time points.
Excited to share our new @biorxivpreprint from the lab!
We show that intestinal Lgr5โบ stem cells are active luminal sensors that use apical TLR2 signaling to detect microbiota-derived cues and regulate epithelial differentiation and antimicrobial defense.

Check out our latest pre-print on @biorxivpreprint ! We show that the intestinal MHC II self-ligandome is spatially compartmentalized across villus, crypt, and immune niches, and is dramatically rewired during injury toward damage-associated self-antigens.

Excited to share our latest preprint with @Sagi_Lab on @biorxivpreprint!
The ECM remembers inflammationโforming a scarred niche that reprograms stem cells and drives chronic disease.
The ECM isn't passiveโit instructs.

Out now in @Science! We and the @KuchrooLab described responses of enteric neurons to inflammatory cues during infection, showing that primary sensory neurons detect type 2 cytokines, balance neuropeptides, and influence site-specific immunity.

๐Excited to share that our PI Vijay Kuchroo will be awarded the 2025 AAI-Thermo Fisher Meritorious Career Award, for outstanding research contributions to immunology. Vijay will be presented the award & giving a lecture in Honolulu at the annual @ImmunologyAAI meeting in May.
1/ Keen to share the story of my postdoc research in @TheXavierLab! We built a massive resource characterizing the spatial landscape of the gut, and yes, we dug deep into the biology too. If youโve got a minute, let me walk you through the story. ๐งต๐

This paper exemplifies the power of @MSKCancerCenter and why I love working here. Access to unique tumor samples, more importantly brilliant physician scientists and most important driven and talented trainees to make it all happen. Kudus to @andrewrmoorman and @elliebenitez11
Preprint alert! A spatial atlas of human gastro-intestinal acute GVHD reveals epithelial and immune dynamics underlying disease pathophysiology https://t.co/qtyqlepJod. We examined how immune cells are organized in the gut and what happens to them in GVHD. TL;DR Timing is key!
Our latest preprint is out! ๐จWe discovered that intestinal stem cells actively fight bacterial infections. Learn more about it in our new study by @SachaLEBON in collaboration with @matanhofree https://t.co/ZMppWIR7LD
