Arkansas freshman star Darius Acuff Jr. has landed a signature shoe with Reebok, becoming the first NCAA men’s athlete to receive one from a major U.S. brand while still in college, Reebok’s head of basketball, Jide Osifeso, tells ESPN.
Sorry for the delay in commenting. I was getting prepared to go on CBS Sports to talk Ryan Silverfield and Arkansas, but they decided Florida and Auburn hires were way more interesting and decided last minute not to have me on. I can't say I blame them. I'd bump me too.
This is nothing against Ryan Silverfield. He wants the Arkansas head coaching job. Glad someone does... But it just shows how disconnected Arkansas is with their own fanbase.
There is literally not one single Hog fan I have seen who has expressed excitement on a day everyone was looking forward to since this started. I see angry, apathetic, sad, disbelief and laughter as a means of coping.
But should it be a surprise? As I have said many times, as you all good and well know, Arkansas has the worst football program in the SEC. So these are the kinds of decisions you get.
Arkansas needed to make a hire fans could rally behind, a hire that would lead to a groundswell of support, and this just is not what anybody had in mind. #wps
Bobby Petrino is adding veteran NFL assistant Jay Hayes as Arkansas' DL coach, sources tell On3. Hayes was with the Bengals the longest and has coached some top DL, including Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap. Hayes also coached in college at Notre Dame and Wisconsin.
@The3rdRawleigh He got us to rank 3 in the nation, which would have put us in a playoff position nowadays, he’s also produced competitive teams, and had a Heisman winner!!!! I would keep him and drop a bag on the best defensive coordinator in the country
BREAKING: Arkansas just announced Sam Pittman has been fired
“I want to thank Coach Pittman for his service and dedication to the University of Arkansas throughout his time as head coach,” Yurachek said. “From Day 1, you could tell how much this opportunity meant to him. At this time, however, I feel a change is necessary to put our student-athletes and program in the best position to be successful. The goal for our football program is to be highly competitive within the Southeastern Conference and compete for a national championship. As we move forward in the process of finding our next head coach, I am certain we will be able to provide the necessary resources to our staff and team to reach our goals. We will begin a national search for our next head coach immediately and that search will include Coach Petrino, who has expressed his desire to be a candidate for the full-time job.”
