Took a little while to get into Boston, but I'm ready for #ASHG25!
As usual, our research group is well-represented. This year four trainees are attending physically to present their research progress from this past year. Please go bombard them with your questions! #ASHG2025
Excited to share my first preprint from @CharlestonCWKC lab. We developed a genealogy-based method for revealing ancestry-specific structures in admixed populations. Interested in this topic? Please read the thread🧵, we'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
I will be hosting an information session for applicants to the USC Computational Biology and Bioinformatics PhD program, discussing research topics and application strategies. If you are registering with a non-institutional e-mail, please let me know

I have received tenure! I got here thanks to the support from my students, colleagues, mentors and home institution ( @LIIGH_UNAM ). I plan to continue doing research on Theoretical Population Genetics and developing methods to understand how Evolution has shaped our past.
This is awesome. Many children with glasses are told they can’t play certain sports. They are not even given the opportunity to try. To see an athlete at the top of his sport proudly wearing glasses is so important. Representation matters.
Congratulations to @itscahoon - for winning one of USC’s Discovery Scholars for excellence in research, and also the Barry Goldwater Scholarship (as a junior)! You taught me how far a motivated UG can go. I am so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you will achieve!
