The tank in Orange County with will either explode or collapse and release toxic gas. Knowing this, they should be doing things to prepare for the spill/release to air (they already have evacuation order to cover blast radius):
--> MMA is highly toxic and volatile
--> Where it goes will depend on how much is there (7,000 gallons in liquid), wind speed, wind direction, rate of release...)
--> This is a dense urban area
AIR MONITORING
--> Air monitoring *should already be happening* (real-time monitors in the community in each direction at various distances, so, when this does leak, we know where it is and at what levels, to guide the public and next steps)
--> We can leverage an existing air quality sensor network, PURPLE AIR, to track TVOC spikes. TVOC is "total volatile organic compounds", and while not specific to MMA, it should react to it if it's in the air in high concentrations. PurpleAir lists their TVOC measure as "experimental", but it's what we have, already in place. (and should be supplemented with more sophisticated and specific measurement. CARB (California Air Resources Board) has the capability to do this fast.)
AIR MODELING
--> Atmospheric dispersion modeling *should already be happening* (so we know where it's likely to be, and at what concentrations)

Hidden on page 744 of the farm bill the House Agriculture Committee passed Thursday is a provision that would condemn millions of pigs to a lifetime in gestation crates.
Rebranded the 'Save Our Bacon Act,' it's a pork-industry play to wipe out every state law banning the sale of pork from crated pigs — laws the conservative Supreme Court upheld in 2023.
Over 85% of Democrats and Republicans oppose these crates. Voters have backed ballot measures to ban them in state after state.
The pork industry knows it can't win a straight vote on this. So it's burying the provision in an 800-page bill and hoping no one notices.
Contact your senators and representative today and tell them: oppose the farm bill unless the Save Our Bacon Act is stripped out. You can reach them at https://t.co/MQvByA4atR and https://t.co/v6ghw99u1K — it takes two minutes and it matters.

I just learned that this man was Rohingya and it really broke me.
I worked on interviews with Rohingya genocide victims for 5 months. It was incredibly difficult.
This man escaped the Tatmadaw and the Burmese Border Guard Police only to die in the US because of our equivalent to the Border Guard Police.
I'm having difficulty even processing it. We're killing people the Tatmadaw missed.
This is Linda Davis, a special education teacher who was killed in a car crash involving ICE agents
The agents didn’t render aid.
She was minutes from her school and bled to death in her car.
They didn’t offer aid to Renee Good or Alex Pretti either.
Say her name too.
Atmospheric scientist here. Let me tell you what was actually "slashed" today.
Slashed: The Endangerment Finding — a 200-page scientific review upheld by the Supreme Court, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, and reaffirmed by the National Academies of Sciences in 2025.
Slashed: The legal authority to regulate carbon from cars, power plants, and factories. All of it. Gone in one afternoon.
Now here's what you're "saving":
Yesterday Trump ordered the Pentagon — the largest energy consumer on Earth — to buy coal electricity.
Coal costs $69–$169/MWh.
Wind costs $27–$53/MWh.
Solar costs $38–$78/MWh.
99% of U.S. coal plants cost more to run than replacing them with brand-new solar or wind.
That's your tax dollars buying the most expensive electricity on the market. By executive order. While the Peabody Energy CEO stood in the room.
And the human cost of what you're "saving"?
460,000 American deaths linked to coal pollution in 20 years. Coal PM2.5 is 2.1x deadlier than other air pollution. (Henneman et al., Science, 2023)
All to protect an industry that employs 44,000 people total. Clean energy employs 3.5 million.

I am BEGGING medical researchers to please think twice before choosing a random medical abbreviation 😭
there HAS to be another way to shorten "non-invasive group A streptococcal disease"
BREAKING: ICE officials are reportedly worried that, if Congress requires ICE agents to unmask and wear identification, 75% of the agents will quit rather than be ostracised for the rest of their lives by family, friends, employers, and society.
Alex Pretti was an American hero. He saved lives. He protected people. He cared deeply about his community, unlike the murderous thugs who killed him.
The very last thing he did was try to help a woman who had been pepper-sprayed and violently shoved to the ground by ICE.
He was a Good Samaritan — and they murdered him for it. Now they’re trying to rewrite his history. They want to smear him. To dehumanize him.
Don’t let them.
So, your doctor ordered a test or treatment and your insurance company denied it. That is a typical cost saving method.
OK, here is what you do:
1. Call the insurance company and tell them you want to speak with the "HIPAA Compliance/Privacy Officer"
(By federal law, they have to have one)
2. Then ask them for the NAMES as well as
CREDENTIALS of every person accessing your record to make that decision of denial.
By law you have a right to that information.
3. They will almost always reverse the decision very shortly rather than admit that the committee is made of low paid HS graduates, looking at "criteria words." making the medical decision to deny your care.
Even in the rare case it is made by medical personnel, it is unlikely that it is made by a board certified doctor in that specialty and they DO NOT WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS!!
4. Any refusal should be reported to the US Office of Civil
Rights (https://t.co/QJjJAm5BxT) as a HIPAA violation.
Be safe out there 🫵🏻✨
Know your rights 👊🏼
