What Tim Sweeney is trying to do to steam is the same thing as a food company trying to hide what goes into their products.
Tim knows AI is a corner cutter, he also knows people don’t like corners cut. It’s not about using tools that help developers. It’s about hiding the laziness that went into a game to produce a lower quality and generic product that attracts kids because anyone above the age of 14 wouldn’t resort to a UEFN map as a viable way to pass the time.
Just want to say I really appreciate steam having the AI disclosure. Genuinely. I don't know how much noise the bots and tech bros are making about tryinf to remove it, so I want to give my input in hopes that we can continue having the disclosure enforced. It is good
@Steam
@LeafbornGame It can be disheartening when stuff like this happens. But I also think even if a player doesn't notice the little things like this, it can still be the reason why an experience means more to them. Like maybe in 10 years they realize that detail and how awesome it is
@EricVBailey Because "these" indie developers aren't making a game for expression or passion. They are making it for money/clout. They don't care about what it is they make. They care that it gets them attention
@Giulio6686 Yes
If you are too lazy to love your craft, it is inferior to the other options that made something because they /wanted/ to make it.
If you use genAI in art you don't care so I don't either
@EZE3D Unfortunately these people genuinely do not have the ability to comprehend your post. They've either never had an experience to understand why art matters and how you express it matters or they're too simple to understand it. Sad souls either way and make us listen to it.
If you can't be bothered to write it, why should I read it?
If you can't be bothered to craft it, why should I touch it?
If you can't be bothered to learn it, why should I listen?
If you can't be bothered to watch it, why should I see it?
@AirBreather1980@SoftEngineer@TimSweeneyEpic Theft != art
You fundamentally do not understand what art is. You also do not understand how being lazy will always diminish the end result of what is created.
@scottjla@SoftEngineer@TimSweeneyEpic I'd recommend researching what art actually is, what it means to humanity, and how blatant theft is not art. You fundamentally do not understand what art is
