@VantagePoint411@DiasporaOttawa@BLM_TO Racism won’t end when those pretending to be critical don’t bring it to community. Racism won’t end when ppl try harder to make shitting on Black ppl a career than having uncomfortable conversations 🙄 miss meee Im Black Im real life not hidden behind some Twitter fingers
I wrote another blog post! It's called "Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast" and I talk about what it takes to build org change.
It was inspired by an amazing management webinar I attended and an eye-opening meeting with a funder...

Can we stop using the phrase 'vulnerable person' or 'vulnerable community'?
People are not inherently vulnerable but rather made vulnerable through explicit policy decisions.
I'm exhausted.
And I'm furious.
I'm gonna go to sleep.
And when I wake up tomorrow, I'm gonna keep on working.
One way or another, this shit has got to end.
And I will not be the one to look back and say I should've done more.
5 steps to doing better in challenging anti-Black racism from @blkmess
1. Understand that if you do not engage with your privilege as a weapon against the system, it is a weapon against Black folks
@EqualVoiceCA Pay them for the emotional labour it takes to repeatedly explain how to remedy the issues that have been raised on multiple occasions. And pay them what you'd pay white people.
@EqualVoiceCA *harm caused, to me (dang character limits)
Former staff, volunteers, delegates, etc. have BEEN saying that things weren't right, and the "acknowledgment" in this letter doesn't even REALLY explain what the harm was.
It's a little late for that now. But you could pay them.
@EqualVoiceCA The strategic plan mentions
building organizational capacity, focused on furthering the 'business' of EV but there is no plan for doing that work within the walls of the org? Within the leadership?
That doesn't read like acknowledging the harm caused to me...
Hey @EqualVoiceCA does this plan look like acknowledging the violence myself, @blkmess and other Black femmes faced while working for you? And by acknowledging I mean a formal apology and reparations. Because last time I checked you threaten to sue us instead #notsoequalvoice
Blk Ppl: NO MORE LIP SERVICE! Concrete action and change ONLY
Equal Voice: Lip service, no concrete dedication or outline to systemic change and a clear lack of understanding of racism.
Morissa STAYSSSS caring for the black womxn and nb ppl in this city by putting together healing spaces for us. What a gift. I’m looking forward to this.
