God go punish that Grammy, una don mad finish
Foreign validation no go kill una
3 Benin brothers created their own sound & blew up with it, that alone is bigger than any award.
Liionel Messi left the Argentina national team with his pride! He was still involved in all 3 goals Argentina scored. This shows that he is leaving on his own terms and not because he is no more their best player. While there’s a lot to be sad about tonight, there’s even more to be proud about, I will choose Messi as the GOAT in a million lifetimes! Thank you for the most illustrious and inspiring career Leo❤️
"Thank you for loving me" the little boy from Rosario said as he took his final bow.
No, Leo. We thank you.
You were the joy of our teenage and adulthood - because across civilizations, political enclaves and nationalities, we might not speak the same language but we all spoke Messi.
You made magicians quiver because the swiftness of your feet made the firmaments stop.
You made sorcerers question the potency of their charms because of the precision by which your strikes split the wind.
You made giants look mortal & levelled them.
You made defenders forget their names - left them with cracked ankles.
You made goalkeepers stare into the emptiness of their nets - wondering what had just passed them by.
And somehow, Leo, you did it all with a rolling leather at your feet, a smile that made the impossible look ordinary & strides that mirrored the silhouettes of gods. My Leo.
Oh my Leo, I type this with tears bubbling in my eyes.
We watched you grow. We watched you become a man carrying the weight a club & eventually an entire generation upon shoulders that never seemed built for such burdens.
We watched you stumble. We watched you lose.
We watched you walk away and we watched you come back.
That's what makes you the Greatest Of All Times because greater than the goals, greater than the trophies, greater even than the records - You reminded us that greatness is not the absence of failure.
That sometimes the smallest amongst us can cast the longest shadow.
I wasn't born in the civilization that cracked industrialization, I wasn't born in the civilization that made coffins fly in the sky but how lucky I am to be born in the civilization whom you found worthy to voyage through with your gift, My Leo.
We will tell our children about you, about that night in Mexico - with the World Cup clenched in your palms.
We will tell them about the night your fathered orphans in Madrid. We will tell them about the careers you ended in Camp Nou.
No, don't thank us, Leo.
We thank you. For the memories, the magic, the joy, the friendships you fostered across the globe, your love for the game and for making us believe.
Rest now, Leo.
We don't know what football would look like moving forward - Stadiums will eventually go dark in silence, boots will hang in museums, numbers will get passed, records might get broken.
It doesn't matter. You were the man, the myth, the god, the game.
And when we all lay crumpled one day, old in our dying beds and someone asks us what being football looked like being young -
We shall all chant:
Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾 Messsi. 🙌🏾
Since you people are already mad at me. I might as well spew all the other unpopular thoughts that I have. So we can get it over with.
- Sometimes I wish Peter Obi was a Yoruba man. He's as close to MKO as we have gotten since MKO.
- I don't think anyone else is taking this election seriously. Opposition parties included. It's why they aren't spending on their campaigns.
- I think Kwankwaso is only on the ticket to build clout for 2031. I think he'll leave NDC for either APC or a coalition of opposition parties in the next election cycle.
- I wish El Rufai had not gotten himself arrested. If there was ever a coalition to be had. He was the piece that could have kept it together.
- I still think only a coalition of all main opposition parties can unsit Tinubu. Even if it is an announcement that one party is puting his its structure behind the other and not a formal coalition.
- I think Tinubu has been an excellent president for the business and political elites so nobody is interested in funding anybody to unsit it.
- I don't think the people who are angry on Twitter have it within themselves to defend their votes in the face of physical violence on election day if it comes to that.
- I don't think that the people who are angry on Twitter understand that anger is not a political strategy.
- I think everyone is fine expressing their anger on X and subsequently patting themselves on the back for a job well done which will not leave enough anger for when they actually need it because they already got their moral validation from tweeting angrily on X.
- I still think Peter Obi's best path to Aso Rock is the same route Jonathan took. If that means Nigerians have to be patient, then so be it.
If I think of more. I will add them under.
Stay angry.
🚨🇵🇹 OFFICIAL! CRISTIANO RONALDO STATEMENT: “This is the truth on what has happened with Jorge Jesus”.
As I promised, I decided to recount, in the first person and directly, the circumstances surrounding the last training camp of the National Team.
After the 2026 World Cup I prepared a letter to the Portuguese people, which I still keep, with the words I want to address to them when I leave our team for good.
At the end of the competition, already on the flight back from the United States, the President of the Federation asked and insisted that I reconsider the decision to leave, because the FPF wanted me to continue.
Right afterwards he asked me for my opinion on the name of the current head coach, which he was considering alongside other names he did not reveal to me.
I told the President of the Federation that, in my opinion, it would be the right choice.
That is why, on the day the current head coach was presented, I was genuinely happy with the choice. It was the right option, as the results are confirming.
A few days later I received a first contact from the new national team coach saying he would like to meet me in person. I said yes and we scheduled it for the end of my holidays.
We met at the Cidade do Futebol, where my club was holding its pre-season training camp.
That day the coach told me he was counting on me and that my presence was fundamental to his project. He presented me, right there, with a plan for my participation. He told me I would play the first match and the last one, and that for reasons of physical management he would always make three to four changes per match.
At that point he raised the possibility of me not travelling with the national team to Norway and Denmark. He proposed that I play the first match and stay in Portugal, then rejoin before the match at the Dragão.
I refused this proposal immediately. It seemed obvious to me that I could not accept it. It was not because I would not play the matches abroad that I would stop captaining our team. That privilege of staying in Portugal would not be a good example.
The coach ended up agreeing with my analysis.
This conversation was attended by Simão Coutinho, sporting director of Al Nassr, the person to whom the current coach reported throughout last season and one of those responsible for his signing by the club in 2025.
On the eve of the start of the camp the coach came to my house in Lisbon, at his request, for another conversation with me. The conversation was calm and all the principles agreed in August were maintained.
I played the match at Alvalade and, although substituted, I made no problem of it. I put the armband on Bruno Fernandes myself, far from imagining that I might be taking my last steps as a player and captain of the National Team. What mattered to me that day was our victory. Winning is always good; in Portugal and for my country, even better.
At lunchtime on the day of the match in Norway, an assistant to the coach came to the table where the group was having lunch and informed me that the coach wanted to speak to me.
To my absolute surprise, the coach asked me if I was fit to play 30 minutes. I was fully focused on my physical recovery, integrated with my teammates as always, and thinking that I would not play that day. Without any problem.
This request was something outside my physical recovery and training plan — because I was only going to play on the 4th at the Dragão — but of course I said yes. He replied that I should then be ready because I would play 30 minutes.
The rest everyone knows. I warmed up from half-time, watched the minutes go by, and was not called.
The coach had broken his word to me.
