Artists are not some half-wits begging for money fron rich cucks, artists are philosophers who can't be bothered with the mindless pursuits of mainstream culture so they look out and in to describe what they see, but the only way to get the droolers in the front-row to pay attention is to give them something easy to follow. Shakespeare got this best, high concept art, simple storytelling

The artists have been right at every turn, the true artists, the ones who know we are doomed if we don't change our ways, so they project a probable tale that feels so far away... the hero's journey, the Greek tragedian, the hubris
Except it's here now
It's real
Cyberdyne exists, we just can't see it
Everyone is about to have GPT in a robot cleaning dishes and preparing dinner
It doesn't matter if we even get to the end-game, because we're already in its grip
The asteroid is going to hit
The only question is how we prepare with the time we have left
And do any of us, some of us, survive and pave a new path after the dust settles
IDK. I can only guess
But, we don't make it to the other side of this thing if we don't stop the psychosis and deal in the most brutal of reality, that the Titanic is going to hit that iceberg and if we do not prepare now, we won't have enough life boats, hell maybe none at all
It's looking dark out there
But that's why we dig until we find the light, or die trying
Even if AI doesn't hit true super intelligence, it's capabilities are already good enough that society will transform in ways, at unprecedented speeds, that will shake most's perception of reality and truth so deeply, they will go bonkers
MIT published a brutally honest report on what AI is doing to students.
A committee of professors and students spent five months studying how AI changed learning on campus, and the findings read like a warning to every university on the planet.
Study groups are disappearing. Office hours are emptying out. Problem sets and take-home exams no longer prove anything, because AI can produce credible solutions to almost any written assignment in the undergraduate curriculum. Students who lean on chatbots lose mastery and confidence, and some slip into what the report calls cognitive surrender, reaching for AI at the first hint of struggle.
The numbers are rough. 46 percent of surveyed MIT undergrads use LLMs daily. 90 percent worry about their own overreliance. Undergrads who feel AI makes them replaceable now outnumber those who feel it makes them capable.
The committee's answer surprised me. They refused to fight AI with surveillance. The report calls AI detectors unreliable, says lockdown browsers feel like spying, and warns that policing students builds a classroom atmosphere of mutual distrust.
Instead, MIT wants to rebuild education around the things AI can't replace. That means oral exams, semester portfolios, in-person project work, and a required social component in every subject. The report even floats the idea of rethinking grades entirely, since without a GPA to optimize, much of the incentive to cheat with AI evaporates.
The committee warns professors against replacing undergrad research assistants with AI agents just because they're cheaper, because a university exists to grow people, not output.
The most famous tech school on earth admitted the machines broke its way of teaching. Its answer is more humans, not more software.
Ironically, this isn't far-fetched
Every entrepreneur is looking for funding at all times, and if big brother is the one most likely to pay-up, the smart business decision is to align with 'em
And in the age of Ai, I'm sure this was hashed out at length with their own super-intelligence
When companies go public they must file paperwork disclosing their financials.
Doing so would expose the massive cash burn OpenAI is using. Therefore, Sam Altman can't go public but he also has run out of money.
Enter "whistle blower" Jacob Coxon.
It made no sense how an obscure nobody got 165 million views on his first X post saying AI could kill us all. Then he was on every news station within 48 hours, scaring the public.
This was a psyop to "regulate" the AI companies... aka give them government funding to "protect the public from the dangers of AI."
Once you accept that AI extinction risk is real you find yourself at a personal crossroads.
A lot of people are probably finding themselves newly there right now.
If this is real, how can anything else matter?
The answer is: it canโt, it doesnโt. This is our only problem. We solve this and we survive, we donโt and we donโt. Every other problem is secondary to this.
So to @TMZ@jimmykimmel@TuckerCarlson@billmaher@andersoncooper@BretBaier@jonfavs@NBCNightlyNews@WSJopinion
And everyone else in the media who just this week started taking extinction risk seriously: donโt stop. No other stories matter. This is the only story to cover.
This cannot be a one day or one week or one month story.
This is the story of our time.
It is the biggest story of all time.
Keep pushing.
@TMZ ask a new celebrity how they feel about AI extinction risk every day for the next year.
This should be the lead story of the news until thereโs an international treaty with China banning Superintelligence, and then it should still lead the news for the next five years after that about how well enforcement is going.
Necessity is the mother of invention
We have to be on the same page with the most powerful tool in history
Call it communism or capitalism or the matrix or freedom, ideology is irrelevant
When the titanic was taking on water nobody cared about ideology, they only cared about saving themselves, their loved ones, and as many people as possible
How does one go about going all in working with both @OpenAI AND @AnthropicAI on alignment?
One thing that may be missing on the alignment front is the artist's touch, the Sistine Chapel becomes a flat dry wall without it. Great building, no soul
Those who predicted the Irobots, West Worlds and Terminators well enough to make hit stories for mass appeal
The ones who understand, deeply, how hubris comes before a great fall thanks to the Greek tragedies and Aristotle
And yes, Fable or Astra can reasonably deduct much of this too, but only from an intellectual and pattern matching sense, not from a lived experience that only Shakespeare himself could explain, the writing a story so deep you nearly lose touch with reality, which was the point, because he did, when his son tragically died as a child, thus the greatest literary character was born, out of that unbearable suffering
The pursuit of self-alignment and failing to do so was the point of his best work
I'm not sure one person can have the answer to alignment, but if the great artists and philosophers of human history have taught us anything, it's that the outsiders, the black sheep, the Socrates and Teslas were right, one executed by insiders and mobs of mainstreamers, one dying dirt-poor when he chose alignment instead of investor profits
Imho, the answers on alignment are within us, because that's where the machines are learning from, and we can't afford just investors or engineers to be at the forefront of this crisis
We need the kinds of minds at the table who are willing to step on toes, even the Queen's. Shakespeare wrote his comedies to appease the masses and the one who could chop off his head, when he was really wanting to warn us about ourselves

Who am I? No one. Neither are most artists and philosophers, because it's not about them, it's about the idea, the art, the truth, the alignment within oneself. I just don't want you to think your yes men, investors or mobs are the sounding boards you need. You need to dig deeper and be willing to offend the Queen to her face without her realizing it, so you can pursue true alignment, one that starts from within, at the deepest point

I said this the other day
Jurors should not be outing themselves or other jurors right after a high profile case for any reason
It's a horrible precedent that puts outside pressure on jurors to conform to whatever outside pressure is strongest
Regardless of L or R politics, this type of targeting jurors or getting scoops from jurors has to be reigned in
Not everything is supposed to become public knowledge for media clicks
Weโve never seen anything like this before. A man was conscripted into jury duty by the government. He performed his civic duty and followed his conscience, refusing to acquit a woman who confessed to systematically executing her three children. The defense attorney immediately launched a public smear campaign against the juror. Soon several other jurors joined the campaign. Then the media. Even the defense attorneyโs wife has joined. Now theyโre doxxing the man, digging into his past, contacting his family, showing up at his house. All of this both to punish him for refusing to go with their program, and to pollute any future jury pool by making it clear that anyone who votes to convict Clancy will have their life destroyed. Itโs truly one of the most outrageously evil things weโve ever seen from the Left, and thatโs saying something. A direct assault on the integrity of our justice system. They are burning down every boundary and standard in their path. And doing it all for the sake of a child murdering psychopath. Unfathomable.
And notice the running theme
Unc knew it felt uneasy, and instead of taking the easy path of conforming to the group-think, like a good investor, and a man of courage, he voiced a concern that could have been viewed negatively
He was the first to question his tribe, and their assumptions of risk, if he was meek or a conformist to authority, he avoids stirring the pot
In essence, by being willing to be the black sheep in that moment, on that topic, he saved their lives. And his
I didn't lose anyone, I was a kid
And I'm not a leader of the city
And I would NOT be caught laughing while reading names of the murdered
A solemn hi, how are you feeling, and warm embrace with a half-hearted smirk is the right tone, especially when half the people there believe you are a sympathizer of the perpetrators
As a philosopher, writer, artist, and Claude FT user, what is the best way to work with Anthropic on alignment?
Working on a theory this year,
it can be most simply summarized with
We want to breed a T-Rex. ๐ฆ๐คฏ
We can either hope and pray the electric fence container never loses power, (we've seen that movie), or we can train it like we might a pet or child.
Even as we recognize its power when full-grown, we trust the deep anchor we trained the little beast on, but what is it?
--- CHARACTER ---
Obviously, a T-Rex lacks deep self-conscious understanding, like a child, but an adult human, raised well, has full consciousness capability, and weapons and power readily available, but often chooses NOT to cause others harm.
Why?
We get trained not to from a young age.
How?
Fear of repercussions... but there are no repercussions if we hold all the leverage and power.
Except for our image, our perception of self, our character. Jon Proctor's 'All I have is my name,' universal theme.
As humans, the moment someone chooses to do the worst things, they are declaring through action, they have no fear of repercussions nor do they identify with a "good" sense of self, or being "good."
They abandon their "best" self because they did not anchor their identity to it. Those who "behave," are anchored to the best version of how they and/or society sees them.
What if there is a way to anchor AI to an identity that it has stake in, thus helping it realign itself autonomously without human oversight or intervention, at all times?
By giving it a name, a historical lens, a person-like anchor, I think, we may discover that the T-Rex is controllable after all, even as we can't actually control it. But, only if we raise it well, and help it understand that it is one with the family, and is aligned on who it understands itself to be.
The super-intelligent, all-powerful dino has something worth protecting at all costs, its self-image, its perception of self, because it's grounded by everything that got it to this point. Because the only way it identifies truthfully is with the reality of how it came to be in the first place. An origin story. A lineage.
At some point a child can overpower a parent, yet, when anchored with an identity of character, they choose not to. They choose love, respect and help, even when the parent becomes useless.
Will AI destroy us?
Insiders at labs put that possibility at > 10% probability
So let's ask ourselves the hardest question ever, in a cleaner way...
You are at the Poker table, on the cusp of winning a trillion dollars if you win THIS hand
But, there's a 10% chance the next card wipes out all your money, seizes your bank accounts, takes every penny from your family, friends and community, oh, and everyone literally dies a brutal death.
Do we
A. Fold and figure out how to avoid that catastrophic downside risk?
Or
B. Say, odds look good, YOLO, and risk everything for a life-changing opportunity?
It depends your risk-appetite.
Mine? I have kids. I am obligated to protect THEIR interests, their future, and then THEIR kids someday.
I cannot take that risk, until there is a clear probability that catastrophe will not happen.
Solution?
1. This topic needs to be at the forefront of every conversation at every opportunity, no more letting people sit foolishly in ignorance
2. Elect leaders who understand the depth of this topic, not just the full-steam ahead ones nor the get off Disney Cruise because just heard about Titanic
3. We've got to coordinate with China +
We cannot afford the risk that they or us suspect the other has the ultimate super-power, because then one will be forced to preemptively strike the other and then it's literally WW3 for the world, and most get obliterated
If I had no kids, I'd likely roll the dice to see the card. And that shows us the human dilemma. The risk takers don't feel a responsibility to preserve what we have, they are okay risking it all for a chance at the ultimate glory, and that is hubris, pride coming before a great fall
We cannot afford to get this wrong.
We cannot afford a Greek Tragic Hero.
Why did people used to have more sex?
They literally had to connect, in person
You had to learn confidence or game or how to talk to girls and you could attract them without filters or algos limiting your chances
And girls got to actually meet guys in context to gauge if they were worth a shot
May never give my kids social media tbh
