the heat itself is not the problem but rather the infrastructure; even without AC there still exist multiple ways to deal with the heat
@Bepispdf@hotdamhistorian in what aspect? 1. temperature is obviously lower than hotter countries 2. humidity is significantly lower to the point where it cannot be considered humid (dews <65F) 3. although theres more daylight, sun angle is lower which is better than a nearly overhead angle for shorter

it is just not humid in europe, to get temps in the 30s theres probably a lot of mixing which would inherently be drier air

higher RH just means you have lower temps since the dews are also low; RH is based on dewpoint and temperature to quantify saturation (actual vapor pressure/saturation pressure)

moreover, radiational cooling would still be easier in europe than the tropics due to less humidity and less net heat energy gained during the day

in parts of the world closer to the equator, the higher sun angle will perform significantly more radiational heating despite shorter duration
@LuftkoppTim and its not close compared to anywhere in the tropics either… id assume you have more mixing on your hotter days which would lower humidity levels, and the water temps just arent warm enough to support consistent high humidity

38C with 55% RH is 81-82 dewpoint while 30C with 65% RH is only 73 dewpoint for example, and its more drastic with lower temps
outside of the west the us is certainly more humid than europe
The shift in ECMWF Nino 3.4 solidly into record territory reflects the additional momentum injected into the ocean over the last month. The model isn't well simulating the subseasonal wind stress signals, but once these signals are integrated into the model ocean, amplitude expresses. Confidence is clearly shifting higher on potentially the biggest El Niño event since the 1870s. The next substantial westerly wind event will likely occur during the last 10 days of May.
