🚨POINTLESS STAT OF THE DAY #026
Ipswich signed Zian Flemming last night.
Last season he scored 11 Premier League goals for Burnley but assisted absolutely none which puts him FIFTH on the all-time Premier League leaderboard for most career goals without registering a single assist:
🥇 Branko Strupar 15
🥈 Eli Junior Kroupi 13
🥈 Bafétimbi Gomis 13
4️⃣ Jhon Durán 12
5️⃣ Zian Flemming 11
So Flemming starts his Ipswich career just four goals away from the record.
The problem? One successful pass in the penalty area could ruin the entire thing.
Can he reach No.1 before accidentally setting someone up? 👀
🧐 Use this information wisely.
Until last week, men over 50 were entitled to a free PSA prostate cancer check. But the government has now decided to withdraw that right. I cannot for the life of me work out what their reasoning might be.
Council tax in 2000 was £800 a year on average. Today it's over £2,000. That's up 150%. What are you getting for it? Less bins, fewer libraries, & worse roads
Prices in the UK just feel completely made up now.
How does a weekend in England cost £700 when you can fly abroad for less?
A return train to London is £160.
The same house that rented for £600 is now £1,200.
A full tank of fuel is over £100.
Car insurance goes up 50% despite the same car, no claims and nothing changing.
£100 in the supermarket somehow gets you two bags of shopping.
And we're all just expected to accept this as normal?
How did we get to the point where being ripped off became part of everyday life?
The justification for charging tuition fees, with reverse triple lock interest, and resulting 9% extra income tax, is the graduate premium.
This, you are told, is the extra lifetime earnings from which you will benefit as a degree holder. And we believe that to be between £100,00 - £150,000 over the course of your career.
But “believe” is the operative word.
The thing is, we don’t know.
But the government does.
That’s because they have something called LEO data - Longitudinal Education Outcomes. And it tracks the university, course, and earnings of nearly 40 million people.
Here’s the kicker: they won’t release the full data to the public, to you. Only to pre-approved researchers. And even then, they don’t get the whole dataset.
That’s because pressure groups that represent universities have lobbied for it to remain private. They say you can’t measure the value of an education in a salary. That it’s about the soul and the mind and enrichment and growing up.
And I agree with them, if only for the fact that they did have a really specific idea of the value of an education when they were taking my money. And indeed the government does too: +9% on my marginal tax rate.
So the ask is simple. Release the records. Let graduates make an informed choice about the actual value of their degree. They just have to press publish.
What have they got to hide?
In 2006, you could earn £36,000 before hitting higher rate tax.
In 2026, it's £50,270.
Sounds good?
Inflation in that time was 73%.
If thresholds kept pace, higher rate would start at £62,280.
That's £12,010 of income now taxed at 40% that shouldn't be.
Fiscal drag is silent theft.
@ITFCAcademy Some really neat footwork on the edge of the box and a peach of a strike to beat a keeper who was having a great game. He makes the game look easy and deserves first team football somewhere.
The ugly side of football. When a club no longer wants you, whether it be performance based or political based they will do what ever it takes to get you out the club. Name off locker, train with the under 21s, completely discarded. Manager and staff no longer even recognising you. So when players get close to really good moves and they feel the value is matched players and representatives have now a strong stance. There is no right or wrong in all of this. Young Omari and the club have done exceptionally well for each other. Without knowing the ins and outs the transition should have been smoother and both player and club should have been happy. A pivotal player in promotion a great team mate a good profit for the club. Hopefully his contribution will be not forgotten by the ITFC family 💙
