The topic of discussion was specifically about trends in the number of 100° days in Nashville. As usual, you panic merchants change the subject when you cannot refute the facts being laid out.

The charts below show the annual number of days in Nashville with high temperatures ≥90°F (32°C), ≥95°F (35°C), and ≥100°F (38°C) from 1874 to 2026 (top) and their respective five-year moving means (bottom). I shaded the chart area since 1941, as that is when airport observations began. I then applied statistical tests to that subset of data.

There has been no statistically significant trend in the frequency of days ≥90°F, ≥100°F, and ≥105°F since airport observations began.

There has been an increase in the number of days in Nashville with highs ≥90°F and ≥95°F since 1874, but that trend is primarily a function of station movement and urbanization (the latter of which is only to some extent). Even if the siting change did not affect quality of observations, the increase since 1874 cannot be blamed on greenhouse gases (GHGs) because the increase in hot days occurred well before emissions were significant.

Hot day counts have remained fairly constant since the 1940s.
