@labourcartel Because Northland's economy is so bad, the only projects that have a positive cost benefit analysis in Northland are Healthcare and Education.
It's really hard to make any project in Northland add up outside that.
@labourcartel The one amazing benefit of that road, it will finally give Northland a reliable connection to the rest of NZ.
Kiwirail's northern line and SH1 north of Warkworth are both very vulnerable to slips. There is no cheap way to fix that.
@rustie5555 When changing coding tools, I find I can really only do it if I get to grips with the new tool in my spare time.
Trying to do it in the middle of a hectic work day is a non-starter.
There is a lot of dev time going into open source alternatives.
@grant_farquhar I suspect we will see LPG consumption & imports go up as natural gas productions falls.
Far easier in the short term to change a regulator than swap over to an electric solution.
@traits_reality@DanielW_Kiwi Despite Canonical releasing a version of Ubuntu specifically for robotic in bedded systems…
I feel Digital infrastructure is something a lot of business leaders and Polticans ignore, thinking it’s cheap and a quick fix.
Tbf, you can still get support for Ubuntu 16.04
@nzsd@zhuoyanakl I would like to see more govt departments move back to well built websites & RSS feeds…
I accept I’ll be in a minority with this view.
@andy147@adriant91901209@LoftusSteve Except it isn't, the national grid has been making record investments into new far higher voltage transmission lines linking Northern Windfarms to Southern Consumers.
@arnie03@AbsentHog@EmmaVitz Agreed, in most professions the ones moaning online are usually part timers &/or those on the way out.
The rest of the profession is too busy working.
^^ Only exception to this is large scale industrial disputes, which Aus medicine doesn't have atm.
@BillyBrown1983 I'll argue it was Covid & increasingly the rapidly increasing costs of Superannuation.
Nicola wills just budged to spend a extra $1.8 billion in on Super, from a operating allowance (new money) of $2.2 Billion
@andy147@adriant91901209@LoftusSteve The National Grid was privatised in 1990.
Their own board has acknowledged they need to play catchup on grid build out after almost two decades of minimal expansion outside London.
