I see a lot of posts moaning about train companies. Today I walked straight off the train without my suitcase. I realised within minutes, but the train was already gone. Thank god Peterborough station still has staff. It could’ve been days, or a 1/7

@LNER An AI couldn’t replace any of the things those people did for me. Instead they did a deeply human thing using technology to make it possible. There’s 94 unstaffed stations in the Midlands. I sincerely hope Peterborough never becomes one @ABCommuters 7/7

@JustineMusiime And in my experience Finance can sometimes be a bit scary about one off payments! So I guess HR team can be reluctant to do it. Still possible though!

@JustineMusiime Payroll’s often separate from Finance. Payroll have a cutoff date, sometimes set by a 3rd party (e.g. accountant, or payroll processor). The cutoff allows a buffer in case of problems. Finance are able to make one off payments but need to be asked as they don’t know otherwise.
