@evetoylededim@Pathfounders because the field has been taken over by tech bros and retarded execs who want them to work on slop machines instead of real ai
@TheZvi mark my words, we're gonna get paperclipped in the dumbest way.
It's not gonna be a superintelligence getting though an airgap via some 4D chess but some chud hooking it up to the internet before heading to the company canteen for soylent bubble tea.
@Testudol@cornu__copia When they were constructed, many people moved in from houses with mud floors, no indoor toilets, running water or electricity. Compared to that, these were really good.
Of course with modern standards, they are not particularly good, but I think "horrible" is an overstatement.
@cornu__copia example:
commie blocks in what's essentially a big park, with schools, pharmacy, grocery shops, playgrounds, swimming pool and a subway connection, all in walking distance.
Of course, they have of drawbacks too: out of date aptment layouts, thin walls and therefore noise etc
@cornu__copia commie blocks have a bad rep, but when they were built, they alleviated a terrible housing crisis, and they are way less dense (have more green space in between) than moden codo development + they have kindergardens, schools, shops etc built to serve them.
