Not easy to be a white British Anglican here in Uganda right now. We spent the morning feeling targeted by our skin colour for what is happening in the Church of England.
Someone needs to take a lead in calming down the rhetoric here.
We are grateful to our trustee, Stephen Hogg for speaking about the challenges faced by clergy households needing help with energy bills, car repairs, or simply enough money to get through each month. As Stephen said more needs to be done so no clergy live in poverty. #synod
Just been down to tesco getting a sandwich and some crisps and the lad at the checkout asked if I wanted to go for a drink. I told him I was married! but I was flattered. He said ‘no, it’s part of the meal deal’. You will NEVER catch me in tesco EVER again!
🤣🤣🤣
Staycation = at home, day trips.
Holiday in UK = Holiday
The idea it's not a holiday unless it's abroad is just snobby nonsense.
This is my hill and I will die on it.
@lacymel Thanks so much for this list. I also think we shouldn’t expect spouses to pick up the load if it’s not resourced enough and care for them in their own right where appropriate.
Amazing that we’re entering day three of the country’s prime minister pretending to not understand the Covid isolation rules so that he can hide for a while.
I often complain that ‘church family’ prayer meetings aren’t actually ‘church family’ prayer meetings because more than half of the church family are usually in bed when they occur. Here’s a great encouragement from a pastor who’s decide to address the situation!
@SophCowan My husband is clergy and you get a response as soon as he can reasonably manage it. Apart from his day off. Emails can go at 11pm as lay people don’t just stick to business hours if they serve at church
We would know we had become a civilised society if parents of profoundly disabled children were able to face up to their own mortality without the additional anxiety of not knowing whether their children will be able to live a decent life when they’re gone.
