@johnrules31@RonDeSantis Road are paved from fuel taxes, tolls, and vehicle fees. School taxes would still be collected and not be part of the exemptions. Most muni’s have a huge surplus from collections over the last few years. They also waste an enormous amount on pet projects. Freedom is the goal.
@Lisashort66@Anfoooey@FLVoiceNews@GovRonDeSantis Shortfalls? Tax revenue collected by local govt’s has almost doubled in the last 7 years from 32B to 60B and projected to be 83B by 2032. Most muni’s are dripping in reserves and looking for projects to spend money on ~ not to mention the fraud and waste. I think we’d be OK
@SaoirseDiaz101@BrandonStraka This bill would only reduce taxes for the 23% of Floridians who homestead. There would be plenty of monies to fund everything else, especially after you take out the fraud and waste. Agree about not funding schools from prop taxes, especially if you are over 65.
@SaveAmericaNew Unfortunately, only the Florida legislature can put it on the ballot and they won’t do it - as DeSantis is proposing. Everyone should be hounding their state senators everyday to make this happen..
@Billsfantim@mitchellvii The FL bill only eliminates taxes for those that homestead - about 22% of the homeowners. Commercial property, renters, 2 home owners still pay. Also, FL’s lottery system pays into the education fund. Infrastructure is typically paid by developers and fed funds.
@njanmanithan@StandUpForTrmp The bill only eliminates taxes for permanent residents who homestead. They would still collect taxes from businesses, non residents, renters, etc. and have plenty in the budget.
@CryptoTaxFixer Yes - makes perfect sense and will vote for it; however, It would take a 60% majority vote to get it passed. If only 20% own their homes, I don’t see how. Is Gov DeSantis setting us up for a non winning proposition?
@TomGrothJr@SarahHuckabee@CoachCalArk It’s public information. Also, you still have to pay expenses out of revenue - coaches salaries, admin, facilities, etc. and what’s left over is minimal ~ less than 9M for 2024. Most Athletic departments lose money w only a few in the black.
@TomGrothJr@SarahHuckabee@CoachCalArk Arkansas’s total revenue for all sports in 2024 was +-152M and expenses +-144M. That leaves about 9M for a payout to 80 players or $112K each. However, what about payouts to basketball, baseball, golf, etc. athletes?
