Congrats to Ardan on taking over our old (but much loved) space in Galway City centre! Romero Games moved to its new office in Dockgate on Merchants Road in 2023.
As part of its continued growth as an organisation, the team at Ardán is relocating its headquarters from the CREW Hub on Wellpark Road into Galway city centre https://t.co/EsK6Z6k2y9
The fact that parts of the industry are reporting record profits while so many developers feel exhausted, uncertain, and disposable only makes the disconnect feel even greater.
When I referred to the industry as being “crashier” now than it was in 1983, I meant how it feels to live and work in this industry as a developer, not in terms of industry revenue.
What saddens me most is seeing veteran devs leave the industry entirely, taking decades of institutional knowledge with them. Younger devs who grew up loving games and dreamed of making them are wondering if there’s a future for them here at all.
Psst... id Software founders John Romero, John Carmack, Tom Hall and Adrian Carmack will be joining us in celebrating 30 years of QuakeCon and 35 years of id!
Stay tuned for more details!

The director of Game On followed me around for ~10 years, and this documentary is the result. It’s 100% independent, and I had no editorial say. I think it turned out really well. https://t.co/epZs2IU5gD

@itshannahflynn@romerogamesltd We thought it might be helpful to people on our team. Within weeks of its introduction, many had taken advantage of it. We also backdated it to the start of the company. My mom used to say, “find ways to make people happy.” It works. ❤️
We’re celebrating 10 incredible years at Romero Games, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
A special thank you to @bittersweet_cakes_by_zoe for the beautiful cake, and to our amazing team and supporters. None of this would be possible without your belief in us. 🖤
