@rolandsmartin made it plain: If Black people show up, we WIN. There are 129,000 registered Black voters in East Baton Rouge Parish, but only 4,486 voted in the first two days of early voting. That’s not enough.

FACTS:
• In 2020, Mayor @sharonwestonbroome won with 65,495 votes.
• If we vote at 70% turnout, that’s 90,300 votes ALONE.

So far, only 6,591 out of 129,000 registered Black voters have cast their ballots. This is the last election of the year, and it matters.

I’m up at 6 a.m. checking these numbers so I can inform you. Now it’s your turn to inform your network. We can either complain or mobilize. Accountability is not an attack—it’s how we move forward.

Let me say that again: Accountability is not an attack. Reminding folks to vote isn’t “bothering” them—it’s holding them accountable for their civic duty.

Let’s be real: progress takes time. Atlanta’s had seven Black mayors to build a culture of inclusive growth. Baton Rouge? We’re only on our second Black mayor in a majority-Black city. I’m not about to give up the progress we’ve made for another “good ol’ boy” to take us backwards.

I’m asking every Black voter, every forward-thinking white voter, and everyone in between to do your part. Vote, and then hit up your people to do the same.
