Obama: It is not as if we didn't see some of this coming. I will admit it is worse than even I expected, but I did warn you all. I did. You can run the tape.
And by the way, he warned you too, because he said what he would do. But the fact is there were plenty of people who voted for Trump and Republicans anyway. And it wasn't because they wanted to give up the right to free speech or see public health systems torn down, but because they were understandably frustrated with inflation and gas prices and the difficulty of affording a home and worries about their children's future.
Now, nine months later, you have got to ask yourself, has any of that gotten better?
It sure has gotten better for Trump and his family.
We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was: a man who believed that the Civil Rights Act that granted Black Americans the right to vote was a “mistake,” who after the violent attack on Paul Pelosi claimed that “some amazing patriot out there” should bail out his assailant, and accused Jews of controlling “not just the colleges – it’s the nonprofits, it’s the movies, it’s Hollywood, it’s all of it.”
His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans – far from “working tirelessly to promote unity” as asserted by the majority in this resolution.”
We can condemn his horrific assassination and the scourge of political violence without uplifting these ideas.
When I was growing up, it never made sense to me that the KKK and the Nazis were allowed to have marches, spewing their hate openly despite their violent, hateful past.
It was explained to me that under the 1st Amendment, their speech is protected, no matter how disagreeable or hateful it is.
TODAY, Pam Bondi said that you can be targeted by the DOJ for free speech if you say mean things about Charlie Kirk or trump because that is "hate speech."
Doesn’t that LITERALLY contradict the principle the right has been celebrating about Charlie Kirk?
Isn’t that… unconstitutional?
My heart goes out to her, but this is an irresponsible, divisive thing to say. Who are the “evildoers” who killed her husband? Who is the “they?” A 22yr old white male from Utah shot & killed her husband. We don’t yet know why. Anyone out there using “they,” as in “they” did this, “they” killed Charlie, is inciting division & hate at a time when we need unity & calm. This is dangerous.👇
I’d ask what kind of person would eulogize her husband by making thinly veiled threats against people who had nothing to do with his death, but the answer is the same type of woman who would marry Charlie Kirk.
Charlie Kirk was an unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist who often wrapped his bigotry in Bible verses because there was no other way to pretend that it was morally correct.

As a Christian myself, it’s actually been very frustrating to see. I’ve seen people who have posted absolutely NOTHING about innocent children being killed and going through suffering every day but now all of a sudden posting kumbaya today, merely because he was Christian.
The MAGA right says Charlie Kirk is a martyr for freedom of expression, but still want people to lose their jobs for criticizing his rhetoric
